Your cargo should aleays fit. If cargo is exceeded you keep all but cant add any more. So you would see cargo mass like 300/100. Your ship doesnt get overencumbered either iircI have recently realized that I have this issue: Bug where enemies do not appear on ships. I think I have had it for several weeks already. I am no longer able to board any landed pirate ships, because their entrances remain closed and they don't have any NPC:s inside or outside them. I suspect that my save file has an ongoing Activities-type of mission where I should take off in a captured ship. I once sat in the pilot's seat of a captured ship, but didn't take off in it because my cargo didn't fit in that ship. Some players say they have fixed this issue with a long list of console commands, and there even is a mod which promises to fix it, but it seems it doesn't work for everyone. I'm not planning to try either of those fixes. For now, I'll rather wait for Bethesda to fix this.
Last night I got a glitch in which I fell through a window into the cockpit of a landed, unmanned Ecliptic Claymore, shown in the picture below:

I took a couple of steps forward from the spot in the above picture, and then I fell into the cockpit:

The cockpit was totally non-functional. I could not sit on any seat, and I was also unable to get out from there because the windows didn't let me glitch through back outside, and the doors leading to this cockpit were replaced with fixed walls:

This was apparently so because the rest of the interior was not loaded, because players are not supposed to get there through windows. So I loaded my latest save in which I was outside that ship.
Then there are these well reported issues in which NPC:s glitch through locked doors, or their hands and legs protrude through them. In the below picture, there is a dead pirate stuck in that door, because its right arm and right leg protrude through it. Simeon has glitched entirely inside that room, but his Microgun and left arm protrude through that door.View attachment 377603
Simeon glitched back to this side while I was in another room for a moment:

After I opened that door, that pirate was still hanging on it:

In a Reddit thread, someone said related to this issue:"Bethesda will never get meshes right." Does someone know better, what kind of error in the game causes these glitches? Shouldn't it be easy to make doors and windows solid, the same way as walls and floors are solid?
And one more issue that I want to mention: I have now several missions and activities that don't complete or are impossible to do because they are bugged. The latest is a surveying mission from Constellation, in which I had to find a primordial network in Vega. I found one, but the mission has not completed. I have now surveyed 100% of the Vega system and sold the exploration data, but the mission is still open. I noticed that the special feature that I was supposed to find, was not called a "primordial network" when I discovered it, but only in map view it has that name. In on-foot view it was named "Exposed root system". Maybe this name mismatch prevented the mission from completing?
Two other missions that I cannot complete are also from Constellation. In them I should go to two temples to get two more magic powers. But the game does not show the location marker for those missions, so I cannot travel to those temples. Those missions are named "Power From Beyond" and "Power From Beyond (Altair IV-C)".
Because of all these issues I have started to feel that Starfield is a sadly bugged game. But quite many activities in it are still working for me, so I'm not quitting this game just yet. But if all my missions gradually become impossible to complete, I will surely quit... quite surely, I think. Or maybe I'll put this game on infinite hold, waiting for bug fixes from Bethesda.
BGS are so unkind in not realising everyone's gaming desires...Sadly they're not coming from the devs.
I was watching a youtube vid yesterday that talked about an error in the game that didn't do its housekeeping and drop ID# for stuff - that from around 200 hours (without NG+) the save might start corrupting, crashing the game more & more often. Maybe a fix soon? But I have over 600hrs in game. I'm also not getting epic weapons any more ( I play really hard). I'm still playing but after 3-4 freezes I switch off the Xbox
The "pet asteroid" has followed me since day one, in space or on the ground.Starfield Update 1.8.88 is available on Steam. Update notes have been published here on Bethesda's website. This update fixes only a few issues, none of which has occurred to me.
I think it's a known issue from another game ? I know one fix which is NG which wipers all id#stuff to zero, but I'm thran( as well you may know ) by nature and won't NG till they fix the broken missions . To be truthful I'm not expecting a fix because they may want to push the NG ( it may well not be be accidental ??) But I could always live in hope .I was watching a youtube vid yesterday that talked about an error in the game that didn't do its housekeeping and drop ID# for stuff - that from around 200 hours (without NG+) the save might start corrupting, crashing the game more & more often. I much too polite to admit it...( as well you may know )
I hope they do fix it - I have my nicely progressed (100 hours-ish) save to continue: I had a look at NG+ and prefer the first universe more.To be truthful I'm not expecting a fix because they may want to push the NG
Just popped on my feeds so a fix for this week ?? I may have to take more notice of your revelations oh he who may be the modern day NostradamusI much too polite to admit it...

From what I gather, there are 10 possible "alternate" realities, and it is random when or if you get one. You can force it through a set of console commands if you wish.I went to four universes in one playthrough and didn't notice any differences. I thought they kick in later NG+.
Look at your save file size. The glitchyness can start at >50mb. The file starts off at 2mb in a new universe. I've completed the MQ, all the faction quests, many side quests, stolen and modded a few ships, created a outpost network of 16 bases. My largest file size reached 20mb.I much too polite to admit it...

A lot of it is what you do sell kill etc , the more you do the more stuff it has to remember when loading up. NG clears that number back to zero . But they have a fix and it will be implemented on the next patchLook at your save file size. The glitchyness can start at >50mb. The file starts off at 2mb in a new universe. I think the bloat is caused by a lot of exploration and scanning of everything.
They store the transaction log? Why? Also kill log? That's data ballast.A lot of it is what you do sell kill etc , the more you do the more stuff it has to remember when loading up. NG clears that number back to zero . But they have a fix and it will be implemented on the next patch
That's crazy because I sell and kill A LOT in this game Found this article on the subject:A lot of it is what you do sell kill etc , the more you do the more stuff it has to remember when loading up. I just saw the news, apparently they want to do something similar to NMS, with updates every 6 weeks!...Interesting comment by Bethesda regarding next year’s patches:
“We’re also hard at work on many of new features you asked for, from city maps, to mod support, to all new ways of traveling (stay tuned!). These will be rolling out with a regular cadence of fixes and updates we expect to have roughly every six weeks.”
I hope those “new ways of travelling” are ground vehicles or expanded space movement like the SuperCruise-esque mods that are out there
Though I hope it's not NMS terrestrial vehicles those are just bad for controllingI just saw the news, apparently they want to do something similar to NMS, with updates every 6 weeks!...
I think it's excellent news.
Regarding new forms of travel, we could be talking about land vehicles, mounts. Although also about how to move through space.
