Game Discussions Bethesda Softworks Starfield Space RPG

Because, unfortunately, there are a lot of people out there who enjoy cheating in online games, and when a game is free, they can keep doing it despite bans.
🤷‍♂️ maybe. I had enough of the tryhards and cheating. MP is a cesspit. The last MP I somewhat enjoyed was Foxhole and a game that went broke, but had a small and dedicated community. You know it is when you remember the names that pop into the lobby all the time.

I appreciate you early testers. Fire away. I don't mind spoilers too much, ber sensible about it and put story behind spoiler bars. Game isnt spoiler and I know the risks of visiting the internet. Hit me with what you got.

Not at all. They are simple statements that include no detail, and so people filled in the blanks and came to absurd conclusions. That's not Bethesda's problem (though it is a common problem with streamers).
I disagree, but to each their own. I want to freely explore planets in any direction such as ED, yet we get a limited set of segmented tiles (landing areas).

Indeed.

Also, are the tiles randomly generated?
Will i actually be able to get a landing POI in the exact location that i was once explored but i no longer have a Custom POI because we have a very limited (5?) numbers of those and they get overwritten "as needed"

Is there any consistency in the generation of tiles and the relation with the nearby tiles?

These are the questions that bugs me - because i'm interested if the 1000 planets are.. well... planets... or collections of randomly generated tiles with jpeg walls.
I mean... muh immersion!11!!

Same here, it's basically my greatest grievance with Starfield. Fallout and Skyrim are great games because of their open world. I can walk forever into one direction and just look what I might come across. Takeing that experience away with small tiles, might backfire for Bethesda, even if the game world is supposed to be "a lot bigger" than Skyrim or Fallout. It doesn't matter, if it doesn't feel that way.

We'll see tomorrow.

I'll stop speculating based on leaked info. We'll find out Tomorrow.

Should be possible to get the same tile every time with proc gen, even without saving custom POI's.

That's kind of the whole point of proc gen if you think about it, it's not the same as random.

however we'll need to wait and see to know for sure how they've done it.

I think it was mentioned a bit further up that even if you are on a tile that borders the edge of a city tile you won't be able to see the city, it looks like any views you get will be a randomly generated sky box, so what you can see in the next tile won't have any relationship to what's actually in the next tile, which is a bit.....annoying to say the least. For instance, "Ooh there's a nice river in the next tile, I must go and look at that," (arrives at river tile) "Ahh the magma, it burns." Lol!

Pretty sure this is fresh enough not to have been posted here:

Not sure who this guy is, but he isn't someone I'd watch again.

Regards the game. It's similar to the way Empyrion started, iirc it was around a third of the planet you could explore. That did change later.
However !
Bethesda will make very good detailed areas so it is something you just have to accept for more detail.
This isn't a game I would regard as a general space game, it's exploration and story, with space nailed on.

I do think it will be a good game for what it is, just another game, pretty & story driven. If that is what you like then great. I'll play it, I'm sure it will be a good story game with slightly controlled exploration.

Yup, there's no info yet on lava flows and there might not be any water worlds (planet covered completely or mostly by water).

He's a Star Citizen addict who's trying to get away from the income stream that sustained for years. SF might be his best chance.

My point is - moving the mouse over planet - are the tiles identifiable? will i be able to generate a POI for a tile that i visited in the past?
Or the moment the old custom POI is deleted the new one will be a completely random one, which means it's just a random pixel on a fake planet that will get a random tile
Because 10 minutes of running apparently means about 25 square kilometers (haven't done the math, so there is that) and for example Moon surface is about 38 millions square kilometers which means 1.5 millions tiles.

So, do the 1000 planets have each like millions of tiles or... well.. not that many, because let's face it, the tiles dont match with the neighboring tiles because it's not that kind of game and so those planets are not that kind of planets

I know how proc gen works, i know that in ED if my 3 commanders all land at specific coordinates, they all 3 will see the exact same terrain
But if i land somewhere in SF in a custom POI and i post screenshots, will you be able to land in the same location and get the same tile and the same scenery?
Or will you be getting a completely random one?

Guess we will see soon
