Having a Xeno scanner has never turned them hostile before, did you stay within 500m of them after they scanned you? I'm gonna check all this out tonight! :)

That's certainly a possibility, but now I'm getting reports that formerly unknown active Thargoid Sites are appearing on the galmap.

And? XYZ found a site, been inside but did not write to Frontier forums. Site is on the map. We don't know about it. Same as Ancient Ruins. I think the way you put it is the best, they just simply undocumented.
Sorry but looks like we checked maybe 1% of what's possible in Eorl Auwsy so I cannot believe we found all. 1% it is very optimistic (this is how unvisited systems in Eorl look now for me after I have been there for 6 days now, barely scratched https://i.imgur.com/Ig2LdAq.png ). Looking at Skaudai they can be really far away.

Someone has posted in the Alien architecture & tinfoilery thread a video showing entry into an NHSS4 where four goid Scout ships were instantly hostile. He destroyed them all with MC; couldn’t tell on my ipad if they were AX weapons or what materials the goids left.

Are beam lasers any good against scouts? If they’re now infiltrating the bubble might have to re-equip my new exploraconda

Wait, the goid scouts are already in the game or was that just the Beta?

I shot a relic tower and the relic fell and stayed on the groud :) So nothing different there.

Here are some more glyph patterns. It's pretty obvious it helps the user give it the right artifact combinations:

I went to the first site discovered last night, did not have the weird red target reticle you have on your screen shots, all though the ruins do tell you what object are when i tried what i thought was relic and totem, nothing happened either, was 2:30am though so might have read the icons wrong.

For sake of brevity:

They're in Wyrd near the conflict zones @ planet A2 (close to the Aquarius tanker). Killed several, no AX weaponry required. Don't know what actually killed them, got beams and MCs on board.

O7,

So from reading all the above, are we to take it that Thargoid Scouts and Barnacles are/were one and the same? Could explain the interactions with the larger Thargoid ships (repairing or feeding them?).

We have no proof that they are the same. Until I see them grow out the ground im not gonna say there one in the same

The scout ships don't scan. When I dropped out of supercruise they were already red/hostile and they immediately turned to attack.

Now that I think about it, you're probably right. There are many ways they can detect if we've been to a ruin/site, so perhaps only player-discovered sites appear on the galmap. I guess we'll find out in due time when you find a few more sites ;).

I pointed this out earlier, but I think it bears repeating. As the spectrogram below shows, the obelisk audio has been down-shifted in frequency by 3 kHz. Yeah, I know, not many people care about that feature of Ancient Ruins, but some of us thought that it was a genuine puzzle with real, meaningful information.

I think the frequency downshift, in addition to the change in ambient sounds (which blast the "barcodes" with noise, making them harder to detect algorithmically), is a way of the fdevs telling us that stuff is just decorative..."Echoes" of the Monolith Network and all.

Which makes sense. It separates the Guardians from the Thargoids, who we know have things turn up in spectrograms. And going by the ED wiki, the Guardian language was more visual than verbal.

This actually looks like a positive sign to me!

Here’s how I’m reading it:

- brings all bars into normal hearing range (currently some can be heard and some can’t depending on your hearing, which renders any non-‘out-of-game tools’ approach impossible)
- probably makes them more distinct in general

Thus:
- more people will notice it
- use of out-of-game audio software might not be an absolute necessity
- some action has been taken to address complaints about reliance on forums to find out about things and the necessity of using out-of-game tools

Which all would be an odd thing to do for something that isn’t actually there to be solved or do something with.

So yeah, it’s a positive sign as far as I can see! (Unless I’m totally missing something of course! :D )
