Beyond Beta - Who has access to it?

Is it simply open to any/all Horizons owners? No matter of what type?

As far as I know it is open beta to everyone. So if you have the base game, you can beta test the base game (some stuff is going to be in the base game), and if you have horizons you can beta test all of beyond as well as the base game.

interesting. i assumed it would just be for the horizon beta testers.... (not that i mind, the more the merrier as far as i am concerned :D )

as it is an open beta then, it would make sense to beta test the vanilla game for those without horizons.. no?

edit... I ninja'd Dale :D

Completely open to all PC Commanders - even if you don't have Horizons. :)

Not too sure if this is the case, I think it would be a good idea that all PC players no matter if they have horizons or not should be able to participate in the full beta. They can use it as a demo to see if they want to buy it. Could get more sales that way.

I think that's what Dale said? Although non-Horizons players won't get access on planetary parts and Chieftain.

What I was saying is that non-horizons owners should get access to the planetary parts and the cheiftain in the beta as it could push more sales.

Not that I mind, but I don't see the point. Anybody aware of beta and playing it knows about Horizons. Horizons is constantly on sale for like really fantastically cheap. If someone is holding out on Horizons for some reason that's most likely won't be addressed by seeing beta.

Possibly, but I cant see the harm in trying.

With the price of horizons now anyone who hasn't got it is a cheapskate. FD should just put their foot down and force everyone onto horizons. Fewer versions to deal with, fewer complications, fewer misunderstandings on the forums.

i 90% agree with you... it would be 100% but for the fact that there are a small number of Mac users who would be proper screwed over if this happens... Still, at some point it is going to have to happen imo to try to minimise fragmentation (imo hopefully before DLC2 drops

Still, letting people try it for a few days wont hurt anyone...

It's got to be easier to allow temporary access to a beta of a product the customer is already entitled to, than to allow them to access the beta of a product they don't own and then retract that.

...but anyone/everyone with Horizons?

They said PC and Mac owners. I don't recall Horizons being a requirement, and considering the Mac version being included which obviously can't run Horizons, I'd say any current version of ED would qualify.
