I understand that this view may be seen as a little abrasive by a few/some/many/most/all players that aren't me but...
I do feel that the new Probe has fallen unseen into the same trap as the 'old' and rightly maligned (for it's god powers) ADS, you see, there is nothing to do after firing off those all seeing rockets, if they don't pick up anything then there's nothing on the planet, nothing!
Unless I'm very much mistaken and there's been changes since I last played some time ago, if ED were wishing to add a common feature to 'landable' planets at a later date they'd have to use unmapped planets.
Instead of 'BLONG' "you got it all" there should have been different modes/areas of detection, perhaps gravitic anomalies, electrical signals, radiation anomalies, peculiar mass readings, bio mass, anything that would give a different reading than expected from any of the probe drops, these should lead to a search area, some of the signals could be fluctuating and be very difficult to pin down with many of those unresolvable allowing the development of equipment over the course of ED updates (the years to come) which would see some of those things resolved.
So rather than a surefire "done" we could have 'X' amount of signals detected then broken down into their respective signal types and their location areas*, with the addition of "some unresolved signals"
Those unresolved signals would/could/should encompass the whole of 'that' particular probe area... thus ED would have an area of land to knock up anything they wished to in the future for content on a previously mapped planet...
The question we don't want answered is "is that all there is"?
* Areas not postcodes, like the blue circle of where the hell is it!
