BGS changes: Learnings/Issues/comments

If neither faction controls the system they have a conflict/war, handing in bounties for wanted faction ships will decrease their influence and is this why massacre missions during such states have disappeared?
During a war, faction influence is locked, so that shouldn't happen.

I know influence changes are not shown in game for players but won't you expect FDev to keep tabs on factions' influence changes or are you saying that's what Faction Status Summaries in Starport Services is meant to do? If this is not working properly, then should I stop wasting time on helping a faction to win?

Influence is locked until the end of the war. One of the factions I back has a war ending today, so I'll be able to start quantifying how influence works with winning/losing a war. At the moment, all I can say is that I don't know how it works.

As for helping a faction to win, if you do nothing then they'll just go back into conflict very soon after this one ends. You never know - your faction status report might work properly.

Now why is it so difficult to keep count of war/conflict days in game - similar to PP?

Edit: Nvm, someone's going to write b/c there are a lot more factions at war than players :p

How do you know your faction's war will end today - manually counting days since war started?
If your status report works properly and you catch the conflict at the beginning, it will tell you how many days you won the conflict as part of the report. When it gets to "We have dominated the conflict for seven days", you know the conflict should be ending.

There are currently 6,970 factions in war, with a further 12,988 in civil war and 4,704 in election. That's more than 33% of all factions in the galaxy. These numbers do not account for the fact that a faction can be in one of these states in multiple systems, and only includes factions that have been picked up through the ED Data Network. The galaxy is an utter mess right now.

The worst thing is, the BGS groups that know their stuff predicted that this would happen the moment the announcement was made.

Is it just a reflection of how tenuous the position of most factions are? My own group's faction is in conflict in four different systems at the moment, but tbh it's been pretty good so far, notwithstanding the Election stuff (if that is indeed a bug... entirely possible since conflict isn't resolved via influence anymore, that this is a more true reflection of people's actions wrt the BGS)

Not having had proper access for the past month, I come into the game a few days back and find a couple things that seem to suck a lot and this thread seems to confirm the one that sucks the most, that is that INF is locked the moment a war is pending.
So if this is actually the case and I appear to be up against 50 or so ships a day according to the traffic log....yet no matter what I do the influence won't change till the war finally starts and then 7 days drag by and its over and I lose one of my largest systems because I don't get to see the daily results of any effort I might make.
Nice, seems utterly pointless.

Ever play chess or checkers under water in total darkness?
Whats it like to finally have a week go by only to be nudged by hundreds of people and say...'You lost, we won...??
or the opposite, not to be nudged and told anything because you were the only one in the room..??

Thanks fdev. I really appreciate the thanks and reward for the years of bgs work I did, only to have the rug pulled out from under whilst blindfolded

When it works, the starport services > faction status menu does give you the information you need. It's just broken right now. There's a lot of black box work to do, but if there's one thing you can rely on gamers to do, it's work out the rules of a game and how to use them for the maximum possible advantage.

Not sure, to be honest - there do seem to have been changes made to influence effects too, which appear to have made the factions more responsive. Ultimately, it's about information management, and in that regard the game has changed significantly. It wouldn't be a major issue if the faction status reports weren't broken in the most annoying way possible.

I didn't realise that the station services Faction report was supposed to show anything other than Influence and Happiness; I've not seen a single one in Beta or Live show anything more. That will be handy if they get it working.
