Big Elite Streamers Giving Up On Streaming Elite?

Dare I mention the Gnosis?

A lot of people whinged about it, but I thought that was great (because I came prepared for all eventualities - spending time deciding on and building my ship... an AX/exploration Krait, took a bit longer to get there but was able to push back at least) - flower ships attacking the mega ship there and then; getting shot at as soon as you lifted off, pure adrenaline.

I genuinely thought wow this is a sign of things to come (AX combat around burning stations, while others rescue passengers others could fight the Goids, in the same instance! Amazeballs!!).

But nope, it's as if the above happened purely by accident and wasn't meant to be. 🤦‍♂️
Its also why I firmly believe FD listen to the wrong people, and aim at the wrong people. Crazy stuff just can;t happen 'because'. You can't please everyone, so don't please people who like vanilla things. Be crazy and live in peoples minds like the Gnosis.

I genuinely didn't understand why people were being so salty about it at the time - sure, you didn't jump to random system (but permit locked, so there must be something there, right?) and if you're not into action/combat (in a game that happens to have a strong focus on it, no less) sure it might be a disappointment, but it was something that was never done before, and it was properly exciting (including bugs intentional or otherwise, the idea is what mattered). Not to mention player wings getting together on a whim in order to have a go at a Hydra (and failing, also thanks to a CODE Thargoid sympathiser joining the fray). Those were the days.

But EDO introduced us to cat media in order to unlock an engineer. Remarkable.

No, I cannot actually. We are not permitted to moderate threads we actively participate in - and we don't. It has to be a different moderator.

Unless it's for something not directly related to the discussion we're having AND it blatantly against the rules (i.e. zero tolerance policy stuff).
Bizarre how that needs to be constantly explained.
People really need to do their due diligence before spouting off.

Gnosis was hilarious.
Thankfully I went in with a fresh, untested, unarmed but extremely fast exploration courier, instead of my explorasp
Spent some time honking, playing chicken, and outrunning the aliens.

FD have the tools to make ED really unique but just don't use them, or use them in ways that dampen things down.

Take Thargoids- unleash them. The BGS has markers that show where they are attacking, get in people faces and people can avoid them, help out or chance getting through. The BGS will react, have really, really high demand for supplies in infested places and front lines. But for goodness sake don't have this damp squib now and then attack, really carve the bubble up.

"Butbutbutpeoplemightbeputoutornotlikefighting"

They can read, can't they? Mix it up. For once force people to make choices and make things memorable.

And for what? I'd say most of it is because player groups and their BGS progress/status bars. I'd welcome a proper shake up for sure, would even make me endure the technical issues we're currently facing. But with the ongoing tumbleweed situation I struggle to find enough motivation to do anything right now, even the stuff I still consider fun usually.

And this is another thing that bops my balls, is that the BGS is just one giant gardening simulator where its 'collect them all' and people get funny when you mess it up. ED should be about you surviving in an ever changing, chaotic blend of societies while being squeezed between the twin perilous cheeks of the Thargoids and Guardians.

I mean, we could have really advanced Guardian modules much better than human engineering but attracts Thargoids who target you, or have Thargoid tech that is incompatible with a lot of human and Guardian tech, and so on. We have all these interesting elements sat rotting. Its such a shame.

I suppose players use the BGS as some sort of willy waving contest - who has the most systems etc. etc. My only involvement with it was to flip a flyover system into anarchy - left it at 45-50% in EDH, then EDO came along and it's now at 28%. It's frustrating - but at the same time, if it was not merely because FDev didn't think through properly the impact the new gameplay had on it and that drop was caused by a lore incident one way or the other, I'd probably try to either push back, or just move on elsewhere and try again.

Instead, particularly as a single player I'd rather not touch the BGS again because I already have a day job and grinding progress bars for the sake of it isn't my idea of fun - as you said before, the concourses are such a missed opportunity to employ the BGS to add some more individuality to them, make them feel like an organic place, but instead it's... the way it is.

The BGS could be a fantastic way to programmatically make an almost infinite changing backdrop- with layers weaving in and out of it but...sigh.

So Hawkes Gaming say he doesn't want to play elite anymore. Not just cover it.
And D2EA commented (pinned comment) that making guides for Odyssey is not a profitable endeavour either (as Hawkes also mention). Apparently, there is little demand for such guides, but there is some for "bashing" the dlc (according to Hawkes). He didn't feel like bashing a game he used to love so much, so he'd rather move on.

So, you have a reason. It's not worth it. And some of them don't want to play anymore, at least enough to make proper content.

I'm sure plenty of people will find a way to spin that into a positive thing, however.

Why should they?
Are his streams monetised? If they aren't getting sufficient views, and something else will, the something else will be streamed. It is money and time after all. 🤷‍♂️

You know how some people are^^

But yes, money is a valid reason, even though it's not everything. Hawkes says he don't really want to play anymore. It's twofold for him.

Valid enough... He's as free as the rest of us in choosing how he uses his time!
The key phrase I picked up on was the "not worth it" - which in English common use could mean "no money" or "not bothered"...
Perhaps the 'influencers' get 'influenced' by the players negativity too?

I got reminded by a mod that had spent his time talking about moderation to others that talking about moderation is not allowed . When I pointed out a double standard I then got an official warning with 1 de-merit going towards the ban pot
Your error then 🤷‍♂️
Check the rules, we are reminded of them often enough.

The big errors get a ban, ask me how I know 🥳

OA doesn't seem to do much of ED anymore. At least not very positive.
Hawkes just say he is moving off to greener pasture
D2EA say there is not enough views for odyssey guides and will focus more on SC (and perhaps others).

Yamicks still there, for now. Ironically. Like, very ironic.

Anyway, you might know the name.

Well 'ironically' out of all those mentioned, Yamiks is the most interested in FPS.

But there is only so much content in, do this, again and again, and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again..

And that is what Odyysey is. And delivered very badly.

It's ironic because yamicks was refused the Odyssey key, and treated like trash by everyone for being "negative". And he is still there, while people who were gifted a free key and a box full of goodies, even a station, have diminished their amount of content about ED, or even left.

Yamicks have said multiple time that Odyssey FPS doesn't hold a candle compared to others FPS.That's not what interest him in ED.
Contrary to what most people think, he actually love Elite.

You missed the point if the mods are just normal players and have to abide by the same rules he shouldn't be talking about moderation with other people ...also those people were not warned.
