Big Elite Streamers Giving Up On Streaming Elite?

Agreed. I only do it for fun and the community company. The amount of money generated by streaming is trivial and it is a lot more "work" than it looks. I'd hate to do it full-time, it would completely take the fun out of it. Pocket change is exactly right for most streamers.

To be meaningful and accessible these sort of events need assistance from Fdev. Fdev aren't interested/too busy elsewhere. The biggest one (whilst is currently still operating) is "Turning the Wheel" which has had virtual no acknowledgement from Fdev.

Cheers,

Drew.
It wasn't one of the biggest and it was fundamentally flawed for a number of reasons.

However, those taking part appear to have had fun.

to be even fairer, watching ED stream is about as entertaining as playing ED.

I wonder if people watch netflix while watching ED streams.

I did. Frequently had E: D open on a 2nd monitor whilst watching Netflix on the main.

There was an imbalance in missions that it (as usual) took Frontier several months to fix  , and the upshot was that delivery mission payouts were vastly inflated if the destination station was a long way away from the parent star / jump-in point.

Hence delivery missions from Earth stations to Hutton Orbital became very profitable. I must have made that journey about 50 or 60 times... "playing" the game whilst watching Breaking Bad on Netflix. Made a billion on a new starter character in a Sidewinder. 🤷‍♀️ Oh, and Trade 'Elite', because apparently delivering secure documents is "trading"...

I’m one of those that believe that Elite is not a twitch streamable game.
I’m ok with that.
But yes I too have read the tweets and posts of streamers giving up on Elite for the moment.
I’m a cup half-full person so I am also of the belief that they’ll be back once FDev figures out how to sort Odyssey out.

I’m an optimist. Been playing for 6 years now. I just love flying spaceships in a massive galaxy with other players around (I do not play in open, don’t need the drama.)
I read the complaints about the development going on at FDev. And I understand. As a developer myself, I sometimes have to wonder what the team is thinking or even doing. Have they really given up on the game? Is the dev team now full of production line workers just clocking in their time? Maybe the corporate culture is taking a toll on creativity (and yes it does, been there, seen it, done that and was
I’ve tried X, Eve and SC. Never really wanted to pick up NMS. I actually bought ED 4 months after release as a way to pass time while waiting for SC. At that time I thought Elite was a joke, triangular ships named after snakes. Come on. I saw Elite back when it was 1st launched. Weird triangular frames for ships and stations. Compared to Wing Commander that to me at that time was funny. I loved Wing Cimmander.

But here I am. Playing a game I bought as a time filler 6 years ago. Mining ice rings for Tritium, on my way to Beagle point. And posting on these forums while at a bar drinking beer (drunk posting.)

Bye bye..
"influencers" rofl
You will not be missed :)
Bye bye!!

to be fair, they're leaving because the players are.

not because they don't get the inner beauty of the game like the 'intended' players do.

you're applauding a group of people jumping a sinking ship that you are still on.

I'm out in the black so foot play isn't even a factor and odyssey has managed to add a bunch of bugs while giving me 0 improvement to gameplay.

also, what the ever loving hell is wrong with hotspots? why does it seem like every one has a higher percentage of what the hotspot is a hundred+ km from the center vs the center? you know what i love doing while mining? spending all my time shooting limpets at rocks i can't use and have only worthless filler garbage, netting me around 1 limpet per ton of anything of value. that's tritium mining it seems now.

but yea, at least we don't have influencers streaming the game. our garbage gameplay mechanics are worth that.

personally i rarely watch streamers, i got yamiks, and exgeious and a few others but don;t watch every single stream.has some are spoilers for the self adventure unless i get really stuck on how to do stuff.

helpful hint (snuff cleans your nose passages)

If I ever accidentally ever start watching a stream it doesn't take long for me to start thinking "why am I watching this person play a game I want to be playing?" That point usually comes at around 0.5 seconds after it starts, then I turn it off and go play. If I have time to watch a stream I have time to play!
