And an opinion that carries a lot of weight in the community. No one at Frontier seems (based on actions and content) to know and respect the size and depth of the lore that the Elite universe contains and when Drew says something, people do tend to listen - even if it is just his own opinion. Along with his opinion, Drew brings a lot of cheer to his interactions with the community, which therefore only increases the respect people have for him when he brings out stuff like this.

I agree. Now, whether people should form their own opinions or base them on an opinion of someone else is up to them.

With all due respect to Drew (met him in person when he was still passionate, rather than bitter, about the game; read and liked his books a lot), end of the day, he's just another player with his own opinion. He's not the only passionate player and not the only one with immense knowledge of the lore.

I don't believe that his critique makes him bitter. You don't form opinions about something you no longer enjoy unless it comes from some place of passion and desire for better. I'm sorry if I'm assuming of your words, I just don't see why 'bitter' is the pejorative term here.

I just get confused that people who deride Frontier for being dishonest, taking money from people and delivering an unstable product, throwing around accusations of greed and corruption seemingly aren't overly pushed by the actions of RSI over the past decade.

$350 MILLION raised in sales, backers, donations, and funding and still in alpha and demanding more and more and more. Beggars belief.

Umm star citizen is an alpha with bugs and issues EDO is a fully released game with the same or worse issues.....that could be one reason people are complaining about elite and not so much about star citizen.

Even funnier is that EDO was a fully-fledged game and then reverted to an alpha/beta :LOL:. But I will agree with the poster you quoted. Hard for me to have interest in Star Citizen when it's been in alpha since forever and it has, in my eyes, just been a scam. Hundreds of dollars for jpegs. Wonky performance to this day. Patches add more content without addressing performance while having fundraiser events. If it ever releases, I'll eat my words and jump on that train. But as of now, it just seems like a scheme.

He's not 'just another player'. He knows many things about FD that the rest of us don't.

And by and large, what I really don't understand is the "Elite is now crap" attitude. Yes, those who have technical issues, I can sympathize with. But other than that, Elite isn't worse than it was before. It's not as much improved as people thought it would be, but so far I didn't feel the need to stop playing because I would run into something that would make me feel like Elite isn't what it used to be.
