Very good point, I agree. So maybe tweaking the PvE content to be no different to that of PvP might be too much. However this does not fix the issue that PvE content here still does not give PvE players any idea of how brutal and quick PvP content can be, even in this game. At the very least, buffing the AI in some way outside of just giving the AI more health(because bullet sponges is a crap way to deal with said issue) would help a lot in my experiences in many other games, Eve being one of the major contributing factors. I know PvP is not important enough to matter as much in Elite as it does in games like WoW or Eve, yet it still pains me that the only way for me to even hope to get any good at "PvP" is only one of 2 ways.
I either try getting into PvP and only end up at the rebuy screen before I even get a chance to deploy my hardpoints
Or I turn into a seal-clubber and 'git gud' by 'practicing' my 'skills' on helpless victims who thus experience the previous way of constantly getting -punched with a never-ending rebuy screen.
Maybe the AI shouldn't be as good as the best PvPer, but moderately varying degrees to a certain limit of the AI difficulty would make their current combat ranks actually mean something. As it stands now, I've flown in many ships by now and there is not much a difference, if any at all, between Harmless AI and Elite AI, regardless of the ship they are in.
Oh, and yes. I love being a Carebear myself. But sometimes I get that inevitable PvP itch, though I can't ever scratch that because I'm always feeding and being the content of the CMDRs who are more into the PvP parts of the game than I ever will be.
OK so you get that PVP itch.. there are other PVPers that are not jerkwads and can be a fair challenge, maybe reach out to them, arrange a fight. But why, because of your desires, should every other PVE player be subject to the "brutality" of PVP...even from NPCs?
As for the AI.. That also matters in what you are flying? If there was a way for Mother to tweak them based off of the ship and gear you have and not have them go for someone else (otherwise I could see tricked out engineered ships sitting in a system just to get ships spawned to deal with them nuking others who haven't a chance).
