Blocking players in Open play sucks...

Do you seriously believe you can keep people out of your system? Do you even know how the instancing works here? I bet you there are a LOT of other people flying in and out of 'your' system (what a joke) that you never even see even though they are sitting right next to you on 'your' landing pad. You keep trying to lock people out of content, while i giggle at your vein efforts.
If he wants to role play blockading a system then I see no harm in it. He will still get bounties for attacking players or they can simply go solo/private and avoid him. From his perspective there are no visible invaders so everyone wins.
.
Personally I think solo/private groups should not be able to interact with the same commodity/influence system as open play as it can be used to circumvent player actions like this which isn't fair.
.
I had two players order me out of the system and I took great pleasure in hunting them down separately and kicking their bottoms after they ganged up on me and killed me the first time.
.
After chain interdicting one of them 3 times he got the message and left "his" system :D

MP is messed up, i cannot see my friend, no matter what, even if we have the same server ip. Additionally i found out that currently there is no collision between real player, you simply clip throw their ships!? Oo

Welcome to FD's "next-gen" MMO. The best single player MMO on the market.

ok interesting, then i stand corrected. i always thought blocking also means not being put into same instance too.

As I've understood it it does affect matchmaking to some extent though, just not outright blocking someone.

I guess you could look at it as an "anti-friends list". If you enter an instance that is almost full the matchmaking will put other players and friends at a higher priority compared to the "blocked" player. However, if the blocked player is friend with someone else in the instance that will cancel out the effect.

Entering a instance will a low number of players won't really keep the blocked player out though since in these cases the matchmaking server doesn't need to make a choice.

Hence proving why Open and Solo need to be two separate modes. If you choose Open you shouldn't have the ability to "block" anyone. Because the Open player is simply playing his designed path, even if that path is a killer, the developers themselves said that this was a possibility and should be a fear to pilots playing in open.

Why play in Open if you don't want to see players and if you do, you block them?

I don't know. I think it's weird to claim systems. It's a game and I go where I want, nothing can hold me back, especially when I need to go there for a mission.

What content could he possibly be locking people out of ?

Another colourful ball surrounded by other less colourful balls ?

There's 400B other systems with exactly the same content out there !

Many great gaming moments are created by statements 'this system is mine'. The good old days of EVE, I miss them.

One of our guys went to an old haunt in a tiny ship after a bit of a drink and claimed the entire constellation was his. Problem was it was a Goon claimed territory for training. Battles ensued, mercs were brought in and capital ships were lost :) We had an awesome time.

Awesome attitude from the OP.

Maybe a whole system is too much to own and keep. It could start at a smaller scale, for example stations. there were already feature requests for owning stations and how that could influence the background simulation.

Maybe it would be ok if we start still smaller, maybe ships. That should not be too far from current implementation and we can see how it goes and affects people...

He can do what he likes no matter which game he is in same as the bloke you quoted. If they bump into each other, they fight, that is the nature of an MMO and PvP.

Yes you are right, so what is the point of claiming a system? It is useless, it only gives the guy claiming it a good feeling, nothing more.

Who said he couldn't? It was a joke comment about a rather strange statement claiming a system to belong to you in a game where it isn't possible. So your answer is a non sequitor. I believe they are selling ED sense of humour paint jobs in the store perhaps you could buy one. By the way that's a sarcastic comment.
