OP - may I be so bold as to ask what were you expecting to happen when you started the game?

I'm thinking he was expecting to be awarded some kind of achievement just for signing in for the first time. Then when the game didn't play itself or flash up with more achievements when he read the bulletin board; he got more and more disillusioned.
As the mounting pressure in his brain started to cause him pain; he decided getting angry on the forum was the only viable option.
Which is all fairly reasonable!

:p

To be fair it's gotta be troll post as otherwise I might lose all my remaining faith in humanity!

Hi, i bought elite a couple of days ago. Till today i wasnt able to have fun with it!

Why?
I tried to do the mission from the board ... but most of the missions are not possible to run them with my starting ship. Iam not able to run 8 whatever of cargo, iam not able to win a fight with the sidewinder and iam not able to be a free merchant cause my ship cant jump with the amount cargo (till today dont know where i can see if iam overloaded).
So i sit in a station an wait for a new job on the board ... but nothing happens. always the same crappy missions that i can perform!!!!

i played a lot - i played the old school hardcore flightsim F-16, i played the origional "elite", i played the buggy "x" and many more. But this game is a joke!!
Players are killing me after they kicked me out of hyperspace, my ship is weack and the mission generator is programmed by a beginner.

And then there are the bugs - when you cant see the numbers of the docking ports, when a station is attacking you but you did nothing, and so on!

So i have the right to get my money back! GIVE IT BACK TO MY CREDITCARD!!!!

Forward me your credit card details, including 3 digit security code, pin number, and mother's maiden name, and I'll see if I can get your money back for you. ;)

Sounds like you you bought the same version as me.
Apparently it's working as intended......
Welcome to paying to Beta test, which seems to be the new way for software companies.
I for one think it should be illegal to advertise a game, sell that game and then not give 100% what was advertised.
Software developers need to be held responsible.
If one were to begin a class law suit, I would say it would have solid grounds for refund and also paying the player the going rate for testing software development.
Brits have a consumers law, same as Australia and New Zealand, if you don't deliver as advertised, then it is unlawful trade practice.

i started same ship with 100cr .. and i bought Ty-freakin-pe 7 yesterday.. so if you want help , there are lots of ppl want to help you in this forum.. but if you here just for cry-blame or whatever with rage , you should join the cat-side

This. Have some rep. :) The instant gratification generation suddenly coming up against actual challenges. Y'all know what's going on here an we expected it, no-one is surprised. The game still isn't difficult enough imo.

Yeah, unfortunately its an example of why game makers remove it. OPs type thread is all we get in this forum.

it take time to learn this game but you can do is wait to see if the fed attack a sip and you help them destroy a ship and look for ship with no shield

Spot on, which is why I'm happy that there's a developer who'll stand their ground on this. If Frontier buckled and nerfed the game to keep the 'it's not fair!' crowd happy, the game would lose it's soul. I'm hopeful that these kind of threads calm down as time goes on an players like this realise it's never going to be a walk in the park, which is what makes it compelling.

I went to watch Exodus recently and it was awful.
Think they'll give me my money back?

you should have read the reviews ;)

supposedly the worst biblical movie ever - and not even the same story to boot!.. not that i'm going to bother myself

iam totaly serious and very very angry!!!

This is not a game you can "pass" with 10 hours of gameplay and then it´s done. There´s so much to do and the credits are not the point. Besides this game is cheap as milk so maybe your parents will give you the refund if you ask them nicely.

I also played the original F-16 game, the original Elite (bbc/spectrum/c64), X Beyond the Frontier and countless games, but i don't consider any of them to be benchmarks against my current gaming. I have a family and house to run like many on here, so my time is limited more than when i used to be able to think nothing of killing 2 whole days on the original elite without sleep to get to elite (and all because i didn't trust a cassette recorder to save my game).

So what has changed? Well, we got older.. that is the one constant.. the 2nd one which is related to that is that our reactions slow down a bit too .. or if you've regularly gamed.. perhaps been unaffected.. who knows. As I am now in my mid 40's I was so very pleased to see Elite rebooted to its 4th generation.. and like many games i've bought, i always expect to find things i don't like as much as the things i do like.. but one thing Elite Dangerous will do is evolve as time moves on.

For now though, it is playable.. completely playable.. and enjoyable with it for those willing to give it a chance. You are not going to be spoon fed every morsel the game has to offer from the start.. and the starter ship is not intended to be strong.. it is fast.. and with a decent turning circle too if you know about the sweet spot for turning etc along with thrusters. As for weapon recharge speeds when you get their shields down, i presume you have applied extra power to weapons to speed up your recharge time? Even if you have, if you were flying in space and someone shot at your ship, would your engineering crew or internal system not be working as hard as it could to bring your shield online to prevent hull or system damage??

Your post(s) to me just rather sound like you lack the patience you probably used to have, it certainly does not sound either like you've moved away from the game for an hour and done some reading / research to see where you've been going wrong.. only that your first reaction is to demand a refund.

A shame really because i started in a starter ship just like you, not that many days ago now and with lots of breaks in between and i've been progressing slowly to take in the game experience and i've managed just fine.. i've looked at youtube vids, read the game manual, joined the facebook group for more social contacts and have upgraded my ship a few times now with my next upgrade likely tonight to a cobra mkIII (now have 600k in credits which i've built up from discovery, trade, missions, and destroying wanted pilots when i'm able). However, I gave the game a chance, and I think right there is where my experience of gaming separates from yours. So while i'll be enjoying the game i've waited quite a long time for, you'll only go on to complain about whatever game you buy.. next. You can however turn all this around by actually trying.. and giving the game a chance.. but that sir is totally down to you.. and your patience.

fighting - not possible with my ridiculous weapons

incorrect. go to a resource extraction site right now. look for sidewinders to fight. AND look for police shooting at bigger ships. "tag" them by shooting them at least once (maybe a few times for good measure). stick around and wait. try not to die (shouldn't be too hard if there's a bunch of police). and voila. you get the bounty. YES you can in your sidewinder claim the bounty on even an Anaconda. If you're lucky that's 100,000+ credits. if not, maybe 60,000 credits. Still. Do this for a few hours (if that) and go get a better ship.

yea, the game is a grind through and through. but at least dogfighting npcs makes it enjoyable (in my opinion). after all, we did buy a space sim, right? combat was one of the big draws... and the dogfighting in the game is enjoyable. it plays well. good visibility. enjoyable flight and weaponry. it'll expand don't worry. just have patience.

and don't expect a refund. though if you paid with paypal you could contact paypal to get your money back. they'll readily give it to you and frontier won't really be able to argue it back. gotta love paypal.

I can't wait for No Man's Sky! I hope it'll be a lot less mean old Brits! Seriously, you guys are acting like clowns.

Also, this game is boring and $75 for beta access is completely obviously a rip-off. My money is riding on "planetary landings will either never happen or be a terrible alternative to space ports." Docking Simulator 2015 woooooo! Money well spent!

Wonderful - running cargo runs for 1200 credits, takes me around 45 runs for the next boring ship. FORTYFIVERUNS??? thats a universe of grinding!!!! Its the same thing as going to work - but here i earn a lot of money!

It's cool, that you earn a lot of money. ... but it hasn't been like this at the beginning?
You start with 1000 credits. .. so you can afford commodity at about 200 ... depending on your cargo. ... At the beginning you may earn 100 cr/ton ... It's not a fast start. but it works.

my problem is not to steer my ship or to handle the trade market or to reach a forgein star system... my problem is that there is no gameplay.

IMO that's wrong. You just didn't find it yet.

my problem is not to fight someone. iam able to lower your shilds, but they recharge faster than my little weapons cooldown. so i always have to stop fighting and must flee.

You know, that you can adjust power supply for your weapons. right?
In a fight I use:

- 1 pip for the shields
- 1 pip for engine
- 4 pips for weapons

With this setting you don't need to stop fire often. ... But you need to evade your opponents fire, since your shield generation is lower.

If you need speed to run. ... go with 4 pips engine and 2 pips system/shields.

my problem is the bad game design!

Obviously. ... But that doesn't mean it is bad.
It just means there is something to learn.

Well this is pretty nasty in here, circular, sniping and baiting.

I think it's time to call for the screens.
