If there are bots, then they have to be available somewhere. Just need one person to obtain one and post the code for it.
Until Fdev makes powerplay open only this type of stuff will keep happening. I’ve given up on powerplay as it is about the worst designed game mechanic.
Yeh , apart from accessing the new shinies its just a chore and personally found it to be a very tedious gameplay loop. Fair play if anyone finds it fun but its not for me in its current implementation.
Indeed, it consists mostly of hauling commodities from point A to point B, AT YOUR OWN EXPENSE, who thought this was a good game mechanic?
Thing about bots is its totally impossible to prove if somebody answers in chat. If there is somebody at the keyboard then generally in the past games have accepted that as not a bot even when its one person controling 20 acounts or whatever.
Any proof of these 'bots' or is it just hackusations and a reason to post about mode changes?
Obviously, it was designed with PvP in mind...
I remember debating on another thread this very point which some argued that from its inception it wasnt based around pvp , the pvp was only mentioned after an update during a dev stream which i had to concede was correct.

As far as the proof bots in general exist, I at first did not believe but found this thread, and in particular the video linked near top, convincing enough to change my mind: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDange...ripting_and_automation_an_investigation_into/
It is one of many, many reasons I quit PP this week, aside from module shopping.

Afaik, FDev just ignored this evidence. PP is just broken. The latest delay until chapter 5 of proposed changes for chapter four is further proof it's a waste of time.
As far as LYR the last few weeks in particular, I don't know, but I'm cynical enough to believe it. Why not, since clearly the bots are out there. For the amount of time you'd spend doing as much prepping as one of these bots... I'm sure a couple hundred bucks and the author would give you the code/scripts/executables.
I do know, we were given word in the Aisling world to help LYR, and even Imperial and Fed pilots were winging together -which is pretty unheard of - to fight 5th column as a favor to LYR. So the 5c effort was strong.
you want to make PP open only. So how does that actually fix anything ?
Go on, I'll bite..
Explain to me, how currently we have bots in open, and you want to make PP open only. So how does that actually fix anything ?
Hidden agenda ? Ruse to make PP open only maybe ?

Open would reward powers organizing such things as trying to have at least one (pref more) combat CMDR on patrol 24/7 via scheduling and pilots in diff timezones, etc. it would go a long way to making a crappy system less crappy.
I'm all for open only PP.
But I can't see how it would help with bots.
Anyone capable of coding a bot is capable of coding to stop their ship being visible to other players in open. It is not hard to do and probably easier than writing a bot...
Sorry, that is somewhere between "didn't think far enough" and "utter bovine excrement".
You are correct, open only would not fix bgs bots because you can't shoot your own preps/forts without a penalty
Short reason: P2P instancing.
Longer reason: anyone capable of running a bot can also make sure that they never instance with another player, open or not open. Going into further speculative details would violate the ToS for this forum, though.
