PvP Bounty Hunting WARNING - KWS wont let you off Pilots Federation Bounty. PVP Bounty hunting is DEAD.

I'm not sure how that could be explained and it's got an easy counter (unplotted routes).

Probably better to have something like a tracking limpet.

Shoot a limpet at a ship and it attaches itself to the target ship. Then you can see what system the target ship is in for the life of the limpet (a few minutes).

That's actually very good... but i find hard that Frontier will EVER implement something like that... too deep to their capabilities.

I think a wake scan follow should at least force you into the same instance as your target. Right now it doesn’t, which is patently absurd.
In fact, even without a wake scanner, when a target low wakes back to SC, there’s no guarantee it will be instances with you when you yourself wake back to SC.
IOW the mechanics of the chase are all messed up.

They have to balance it so even in a trade ship escape is possible. Any BH'ing improvement tool would run the gauntlet of just becoming the newest low effort space-murder toy.

That’s not it. That’s just instancing madness. It has nothing to do with balancing the survival rates of traders. it’s the damned P2P network and how instancing is established or somesuch technical flaw. It’s not remotely a gameplay decision. It’s just another unintended peak behind the curtains.

P2P has always been a thing, and will always be a thing as the result of the games basic design so it doesn't really bother me. Look on the positive side there's no subscription fee's for us to pay.

The point I was making is that anything introduced to assist in hunting such as a tracker limpet (which sounds like fun), would immediately be abused if it was too effective. Unintended consequences and all that.

Yes, I understand your points. I can’t help finding it a hair frustrating though.

Couldn't all of that be done with current game mechanics, by temporarily forcing the target onto the attacker's Friends list? The galactic map would show their location, while the matchmaking server would be more likely to instance them together...

I like the new PFB bounty but it should also apply to NPCs. Trying to elevate commanders' value in the grand scheme of things isn't in the spirit of the game and it causes problems like this. A big part of the appeal is that you're not special.

I agree with the OP. That's how it should work. But it doesn't. They'll leave one fang in this game to pretend it's dangerous but they'll pull the rest eventually.

You’d think so, but frankly they manage to instance me out from my own wingmates half the time.

It's a lore thing. Pilots federation is the faction WE are part of and it does not like us blowing up fellow members without a justified(in their eyes) reason. It's a bit like killing a made man in the mafia. They care more than killing a nobody.
That said..... I think it could work similar for NPC factions too... By simply increasing murder bounties across the board... I am sure it would be abused but bounties must surely be higher than 6,k for murdering someone when NPC ships regularly push 300k.....

:D Yeah, fair point. I still tend to think about game mechanics in terms of how they're supposed to work, rather than how they actually work in practice.
