Brawling in Stations for Emergent Gameplay

Odyssey adds player access to station interiors. So in high security stations weapons should be barred at the main entrance after the landing pad. However, in low security stations allow players to carry weapons. It can be used in ambushes, brawls by players/NPCs and missions. When apprehended you can pay bail with credits to be released.

Why is this important? Because this is fun emergent gameplay. It increases the range of potential events in a station. It makes the game more exciting.

Yeah, I hate to tell you, but, if I was a station chief and some git pulled out his MegaDeathRayBlasterCannon™, my reaction force in battle armor would have his... scalp before he could lift.

In the current era, that is called Suicide by LEO.

I guess that makes sense as to why it would be in low security systems (anarchy is more likely if it did get implemented). High security would just have the station guns vaporize us before any real damage could be done lol

They don't let you engage in combat around stations, what on earth makes you think they will allow it in stations? Surely that would destroy the entire point of social areas, "come to the stations and enter the social areas to get to know your fellow CMDRS, and kill them!"

Don't forget there is an insane and ridiculous amount of people in E:D, it's really supercrowded

Well yes, getting two people actually on one station may be an issue, but I have suggested in the past a way around that and I wonder if FDEV are using it since they mentioned regional hubs.

Basically when you exit a ship to enter a station you don't enter the particular station you are docked at, but you enter a station server that acts as the "station interior" for a large area of the game, so there may be 19 Orbis stations in Colonia, but all the players who enter an Orbis station in Colonia will end up in the same station interior, it would be generic and wouldn't have anything that identifies it as a particular station but it would have the effect of concentrating the population in that region into a well populated station and they wouldn't need to have station interiors for every station in the game, just a few generic interiors on a station server.

Some cool events would be possible such as when you deliver illicit goods at a station and talk to an NPC on the landing pad or in a club. Then goons show up and you need to defend yourself. Maybe you can negotiate for a peaceful solution. It adds more depth to the simple delivery missions.

Not everyone would shoot on sight. For people who want security they can land on high sec stations.

Once upon a time, there was this one station, in this one star system, and weapons clearance suddenly included utensils. A sort of station-wide civil war broke out between the forces of Team Fork, Team Spoon, and Team Butter Knife. It escalated to one serious injury, two court marshals, and after Team Fork and Team Spoon united against the despicable forces of Team Butter Knife, a certain CMDR that could throw things? I guess? Geez. The report read that he embedded a fork into a wall from about fifteen paces. With a ranking officer present. The moral of the story is uhh.. Well, for one, plastic sporks are stupid with those little food cartridge things, especially those containing animal meat, and the likes of CMDR Fork will always be remembered.

Maybe FD could add a seperate mode for those wanting to do pew-pew with space legs. They could call it something like Close Quarters Combat or something.

That's a novel idea, a warren of tunnels, passages open areas set aside just for people to fight other people, they could call it, I dunno Quake Arena or something similar.

Or Star Marina.

Tell players that its there to inform the devs on how best to develop the main game. Then ignore developing it further ever again.

I'm all for guns in stations.
Imp and Fed owned stations would disable personal arms at every sec level.
Alliance and Independent only enforce that at their high and med sec stations.

for this to work there has to be some kind of 'loss' that can happen if you die on foot. Otherwise every station will be shoot first gun frenzy... also i hope running/jumping is limited so we don't have wackos ruining the mood with shenanigans.
