Community Event / Creation BRC presents: Border Hopping (A Warm Up Race)

Nice video furrycat, and nice to see a classic Buckyball landing at Bresnik Port :D
Thanks all for competing - no corrections submitted so board is now final.
Next race coming very soon... (Saturday)

Thanks for organising the race Drakhyr - it was great (although I blame you for me still having a long list of RL chores to do...) ;)

Here's the report I recorded.
Hopefully it should be on the Broadcast rotation with in 24 to 36 hrs.

The High Speed Mayhem that is the Buckyball Racing Club wrapped up their latest event recently.
The Border Hopping Race had competitors Thumbing their Noses at the System Security Forces of both Empire and the Federation. In an effort to complete the course in the shortest time possible.

Starting from Gaiman Dock in Beta Pictoris, Racers were given free reign to establish the fastest course through the 4 checkpoints of Bresnik Port in 82 Eridani, Mikulin Hub Kamchaa System, Tsunenaga Port LHS 200, and Michalitsianos Hub in the Kapod system
Returning to Gaiman Dock with tales of dodged interdictions, narrow escapes from station security, and hefty ship repair bills to set their time.

After the last of the competitors had completed the course, and all ships placed in dry dock for much needed repairs.
It was CMDR Alot with the Zorgon Petersen Hauler "Explodes on Contact" Stamping his authority on the event crossing the line in an impressive 21min 6sec.

A time of 22min 52sec was good enough for CMDR Raiko in the Asp Explorer "The Nomad" to clench 2nd place.
Holding a narrow margin over CMDR Rusticolus in another Hauler called "The Badger" with a time of 23min flat to complete the podium.

An honourable mention goes out to CMDR Alec Turner in the Cobra Mark 3 "Bottle Of Smoke" for banging and scraping his way around the course, and survive, to finish with an uncomfortably slender 1% hull remaining.
We here at Radio Sidewinder salute your "Win It or Bin It" attitude CMDR, but we're not too envious of your repair costs.

Details of the next event "The Bump'n'Grind Outpost Dash" can be found at buckyballracing.org.uk
This has been CMDR Ceska Zbrojovka, evading the authorities in Beta Pictoris, for Radio Sidewinder News.

I'll let you all know when it'll be available for your Ear Holes!

Awesome!

Cheers for the "Win It or Bin It" quote, I like that. Might see if I can get it engraved onto the side of my next Bucky Racer :)

Absolutely superb! Thanks for the Bump'n'Grind plug and I'm delighted with my honourable mention even it is for basically doing really really badly :) Those podium slots continue to elude me and I don't rate my chances in the next race neither (partly because I half suspect I'll be too busy checking screenshots and writing race commentary to actually do any racing).

I'll attempt to upload my second place run to YouTube tonight or tomorrow, then you can all see how bad my docking is! :D My SC wasn't too bad for this race though.

(I've never posted to YouTube before, so bear with me if I take a while)

Does anyone else use AMD's Raptr to record their runs? It works fine, but the recording rate is always out, so my final recording is always shorter than my run time. I've noticed that Esvandiary's Shadowplay recordings are always exactly the correct length, whereas my Raptr recordings are always about 10% too fast. I obviously can't fix my recording of this race, but I'd appreciate any advice for future recordings. :)

Shadowplay doesn't work with Surround so I evaluated a bunch of different recording tools. Eventually I settled on Action! Worth a look if you can't get Raptr to work properly.

I believe that OBS also supports just recording to disk... and I think they added support for the tech behind both Shadowplay and Raptr, so it shouldn't cause major slowdowns.

Here's the recording of my final run, nothing too exciting and my docking wasn't as bad as I thought on that run. I should have submitted to the interdiction near the end like Alot did, and I annoyed so I overshot the moon as well after that. :)

It's unedited game footage without any music, etc, sorry it's the first time that I've posted anything to YouTube.

Watching the playback my recording keeps skipping a few seconds, usually during the station or the hyperspace entry animations, which I think is because it was recording straight to a NAS drive (I'd thought that the recording initially went to my SSD). I'll have a play around with the settings and with alternative software while I'm practicing for Alec's new race. At least I now know why the recordings are shorter than they should be.

It would take me quite a long time to upload my full run, but thought I would share this moment I had on one of my better attempts...

PSA: don't watch Rugby and race at the same time.
