Break through SCBs instantly with modified railguns (Newletter 121)

That's why I pulled off the Class 4 cannon. It's ideal range is not so different from frag cannons which do vastly more damage to make it not even worth mounting. Class 2s are good imo. They need to find either more common ground, or drastically increase it's damage to compensate for it's ridiculously low muzzle velocity. IIRC, someone measured that Napoleanic era cannons had a higher muzzle velocity, which is pretty sad.

I'm all for a velocity increase for cannons. Why on earth would an artillery piece only be effective at point blank range?

Here's a fun challenge:

Load up an Anaconda with only cannons in turret mounts, take a shot every time they miss. Take a double-shot every time they hit a friendly instead! :D

FYI c1 cannon and c3 PA has the exact same projectile velocity in game at the moment. C1/2 cannons are kinda ok but c3 and especially 4 needs to be brought up. In my opinion cannons of all classes have good damage/firerate/power demand balance, the thing is they are way too slow to register hits and yes that is pretty sad.

That would make sense, as long as they don't somehow kill off another population.

At this point i can't see how, maybe this is just an other topic of discussion for beta.

I will be in a coma before i burn half the ammo reserve. :D

For me, they can just get rid of SCBs altogether. They're always just been annoying when ships spam them, turning PVE into a grind and PVP into a spec conflict.

Controversial, but there you have it.

Seems we're headed more and more into "spec conflict"...

I HAD A GLORIOUS IDEA TALKING TO MY PARTY anyway this may have already been said? BUT...(sorry i don't want to pour over 21 pages of something just so i can see if someone said it before me) what if... the feedback cascade... instead of just collapsing the ship's shields completely (because truth be told that's just gonna break the game for a lot of people) What if... When you shoot the feedback cascade as the scb is active... it recognizes the frequency of the shields regeneration rate. allowing the rail gun shot to omit shield damage altogether. pass through the shield and do hull damage... but ONLY when the scb is activated and in that short amount of time you can omit the shield damage and go straight to hull. However. if the scb is not active. it acts as a regular rail gun? (and of course they can tweak this idea to make it viable if they need to up the hull damage for that "perfectly timed" shot to be actually worth it or whatever) BUT. Thats my idea. let me know if you think this is an amazing idea as i thought it was. k... ill go back to my xbox now haha

Its much better to fight an enemy that has 5000 hull armor instead, right? And Because 1000 years in the future we still havent come up with better defensive measures than placing a metric ton of metal between the target and the projectile.

If you seriously cant deal with the idea that spaceships in a sci-fi game have shields that protect them from damage, then go play some sort of naval warfare game based on current technology. I am sure you'll be much happier.
