[BREAKING NEWS] Largest Heist In Galactic History Takes Place: EIC Robbed by The Code

So the Magnum Opus heist in ALL OF THE GAME = 2 - 2.5 hours of VO/LTD/Painite mining in a metal ring.

The equivalent monetary value of said fait accompli by said Code trope "pirates" == a bored miner who listens to a mixture of jazz, country & pop music. All while stalking the ED forums for 2-3 hours or so....

Looking forward to seeing what you can come up with!

Yes I have had Players try and kill me and take my cargo (Pirate), No I have never had a player try and "roleplay" a Pirate. So tell me how you play a pirate? What is your modus operandi? How do you play different from a "Killer"? Help us all understand the difference between a Pirate and a Killer?
Looks like you've never encountered pirate in game. Basic diffrence is they talk first, shoot later, if at all.
They're rare though. It requires much more effort than just try to blow up someone. You can use your imagination to come up with 'taking your cargo' as the reason for a player killing you, but in game terms they do not get anything for blowing you up.

I try to play my part and always give up cargo when pirated. Frankly, I often show up at CG's doing couple of cargo runs, just to give them a chance to pirate me.
I wish they would be more common, so I could feel free to employ some kind of defensive measures, but right now I always act like if I encountered endangered species. I try to feed it, not scare it away, or god forbid, kill it.

2 Sec's I am looking for a story about a miner than did something more noteworthy than post a screengrab of selling Void Opals, that included planning, multiple groups, was discussed on a number of different media and reported by well know ED Vloggers. While still creating discussion many days after the event.

I could be a while but I promise to come back with it as soon as I find it.

I'll often give them a harsh warning that a lot of pirates aren't as professional (or something) and would just destroy them for none compliance.

(Of course, there are an infinite number of variables here and lots of different outcomes, this is just one of the common ones reduced down to the basics)

Aye matey! Number of variables also include cops jumping in the low wake and shooting at our back :ROFLMAO: but that's part of the game.

Our "clients" are also awarded for a 24hrs free pass when being compliant. We relay the GT tru our convos / discord and the CMDR will not be robbed again until the free pass expires (some times these CMDRs have also asked me to provide escort, I did in exchange of a price of course).

Another point is: as far as I can, I always ask compliant clients to "abandon" cargo. Reason is simple: abandoned cargo is not tagged as "stolen" and I am able to sell it to the same CG station in order to minimize impact on CG tiering. Some one may think that we rob few tons and so no impact, but I have to say the contrary as we robbed more than 3k tons only in the last Sap Core CG.

Another important point is how's difficult to manage Player to Player communication on consoles... clients are frightened of being interdicted most times and they don't look at convos, so we keep patient if they stop even if authority ships come and shoot us. First priority is to make the client aware that we're there for the cargo and not for a kill. Then we parley about the price (I mean the cargo we need to release the CMDR).

Having said that, we have some very simple rules and a general RoE for the squadron. Who doesn't comply gets a "blood out boot" (i.e. walks the plank and it's booted from the squadron), we deserve respect to all fair escorts and white knights who challenge us on same grounds. But we're not care bears so don't expect we being merciful... finally, we're merciless against c-loggers (they will be hunted and killed no matter of their rank, squadron, ship and location).

What squadron is this? Sounds like it is closer to my play style than many others, not a perfect fit but that's almost impossible.

I have contemplated on how to best respond. Elite Dangerous has Pirate faction that precipitate in creation content, I for one compliment them on what they do and how they do it. I first started playing when the Fuel Rat incident. I loved it. The Shure elegance of it was both parties had had to willingly participate. Even the community at large joined in, I for one had just started and was in my loaned Sidewinder and was trying to earn credits to help free the Fuel Rat. I o7 all who participated on both sides. When I get pirated by one of the pirate factions, I also will participate in dialog and content with the faction. I for one enjoy player created content and in game roleplay.

We also have the “Killer”. First off, they are not killing anything, at worst they are a minor inconvenience. They derive their enjoyment by annoying other players. If they are progressing a narrative it is known only to them. This style of gameplay has been a part of open games with a PVP content from the fist MUD’s. My only suggestion is come up with a narrative other than “I’m a killer”. Be somewhat creative, find a section of space claim if for your self and defend it against anyone who enters. Be a mercenary unit, Be a terrorist organization and work against one of the major or minor factions in the game. Then make it known what you are doing. The Serial Killer/ Hobo Murderer is so passé.

I'm a killer because it helps other Commanders take my positions seriously.

I'm currently in Colonia nurturing the development of an anarchist bloc.

Although I share the sentiment and in fact there was a thread once where I tried to "promote" this kind of approach and convince griefers/gankers they should make some effort, or at least not scare unwilling players from Open by blowing them up, I realized this is not as simple as I thought.

First of all - some players just prefer shooting. That's what they like about the game - roleplaying is not for them. It would be hard to make them do it. If game doesn't force players to use this approach by making it part of the gameplay, there's hardly anything we can do about it, but live with it.

Secondly - some players simply don't speak your language, be it English, or something else. It's hard to roleplay if you can't communicate.

At some point I tried to roleplay Police. I flew around one particular system in Cobra outfitted with all kinds of utilities I normally don't use, including fuel limpet controller, FSD Interdictor and Manifest Scanner.

amongst other things interdicting players and scanning them for contraband.
Percentage of players I interdicted that responded in any way was so miniscule that I rather quickly lost heart for it. It's really not much of rewarding gameplay, when any NPC is more talkative than human player.

Nicely done. If it just had a blue flashing light.

Something wrong with my contribution? I was legitimately curious to hear your response.

Now that sounds interesting, Just for my own interest is there a backstory? I would refer to you as an Enforcer. It has more panache.
