[BREAKING NEWS] Largest Heist In Galactic History Takes Place: EIC Robbed by The Code

I can see 'this sort of thing' becoming quite prevalent if FCs are introduced with the appropriate features:

You could store valuables on board (for purchasing fuel when required), but this could be pillaged by pirates using limpets, as with the Mega ships.

Interesting play lies ahead, methinks.
But then there's the issue ... "what if a carrier in Open is raided by pirates in Solo?"

I presume (and it's the only way it could work without becoming a cause of complaint), is that Carriers in Open cannot be attacked in Solo, because you would not see the other person's Carrier. Hence why they are Personal carriers, rather than Squadron carriers. The latter would be upset by the Solo/Open issues.

It really does look as though FD have been playing "real games" with these FCs to test out the "what ifs" 🙂

EIC posted a response on Reddit.

Important bit:

On a much more serious note, this claimed act of "piracy" was no such thing at all. This was more accurately an act of digital theft carried out beyond the game universe. These perpetrators used a willing spy and social engineering tactics over the course of 9 months to gain access to our trade post operations. The spy then stole account credentials and used them to execute their "heist". This is a clear violation of TOS, and we have forwarded the pertinent information to Frontier. We trust in their process and will accept their resolution regarding this documented account theft.

Is this true?

Hint: Pirates don't play by the rules.

I know only what I've seen and read. I imagine there are two ways to look at it but one way would be to assume that if "Bank" ships are shared between players and one of those players decided to give things away for free then I can't see there is much can be done. Nothing was stolen, it was "abandoned".

For what it's worth, my advice, humble as it may be would be to pay up and accept there needs to be a review of procedures.

They still have to play by the rules of the game, though. Otherwise it would be somehow acceptable for pirates to use hacks.

It will all come down to what is FD's policy on the matter I guess.
