Greetings

That video Bacaloo posed brought back some memories, I owned a Panther and can't wait to buy one again in ED.

As for the ships well I want them all and then some brought into ED.

I just want the damn original Imperial Courier D:

Those are of course unofficial sketches, but if the size comparison is correct, I just don't understand the new Courier design decisions...

I really liked some of the artwork for the imperial vessels with a more bladed look, the new one looks too much like a sea plane.

I'm new to the elite franchise in the sense of never playing a previous game, but have known elite as one of the very first sci-fi sims before elite dangerous even came out. As soon as i saw the krait i knew it had to be in elite dangerous, it would probably replace the vulture as a main heavy fighter for me.

The problem with the Krait is that it's a bad investment for FD. It's a pretty big effort to create a ship (frame, skin, sounds, testing) and the Krait will be like the Sidie or Eagle. It's too small to hold the firepower required to compete with the large ships.

I'm with Poy - Imp Courier MkI.

I respectfully disagree. The Krait was traditionally an assault craft. It had no other purpose than to shoot things. It's larger than a Sidewinder, it needs no frameshift drive, it needs no big fuel tank, it needs not much of anything. Give it two large hardpoints and one small hardpoint, no jump range, and let the fun begin :)

Ah, then for CQC, yes all for it. Or, perhaps once the Anaconda's can carry it's own escorts. Hindsight and all, I would have much preferred a Krait over the F63 Condor. :)

I love more ships, but I'd love shipyards, abandonned stations, massive wreckages, pirates hideouts, deep space science labs, vast hydroponic farms, etc... additions a LOT more.

Strange poll. No option for "All of them and the Constrictor". I'd even want the Worm and the Interplanetary Shuttle back, and the Lynx-bulk carrier as non-flyable to add more variety.

Not much love for the Gecko here then? It would by my next preference after the Krait, because it has a lovely distinctive planform.

A lot of people say that the small ships don't have a raison d'etre any more. We were discussing running costs yesterday on a bit of a tangent, and I think that this is where the value of the smaller combat craft should lie. Repair costs for the big ships should be high enough that bounties and mission rewards should barely cover the cost of repairing combat damage, whereas the smaller ships should be affordable little runners. This would make operating big combat craft the preserve of navies, Powers and authorities, because they need to project power even if doing so doesn't break even in combat.

In saying that, I am not asserting that these ships should be taken out of the hands of players, just that to repair them, players will have to dig deep, or go to stations where they have good reputation, get repairs from a Combat Bond issuer after CZ work, or at one of their Power's control systems.

This would give the game more reasons to run a wider range of ships, since using the most powerful combat craft will require other gameplay choices.

That's an interesting chart there :D

Pretty sure the Krait and Boa are on the way, we just don't know when yet.

Are you pretty sure because you've heard something official? When DBOBE was asked during one of his Q&A sessions last year he said
Sadly it is not on our current list. That's not to say it couldn't be added in the future. I liked it too, even though it is quite a simple shape.
They must have already at this stage had the plan for the first 30 ships they were going to include, so I certainly don't expect to see it any time soon™

Obviously all the originals from the original should be there. I'm sure even in the current ED year, there would be some of these older vessels flying around somewhere.

I loved the Krait (they always seemed to drop Alloys when they poofed!) but found the Mamba a challenge as it had such a thin profile as it came into attack making it difficult ship to hit head on - it was fast too.

No mention of the Cobra Mk I either?!

Anyways, maybe in the future FD might drop in a little nostalgia for us - fingers crossed.

I'll boot into touch and request a proper Asp. The thin, streamlined Asp, not the fat monstrosity that we got under the same name.

Voted for Boa but would love to see all return, even if just the NPCs had them.

Also like to see Cobra Mk1, Viper Mk1 & 2 etc.
