Bring on the DOOM!

Am I insane or did Braben tell Bathesda that his audience expects the ship interiors to all be different for his game Elite. He seemed to be saying that there will be ship interiors… or that there already are…. But they are quite similar to one another so he wants to see what Bathesda does with there ship interiors….
My interpretation is that Dave feels frustrated that he gave us this great expansion in ED:O and all we can do is complain about the lack of ship interiors...
It's a stark contrast to his tone during his kickstarter days... when he needed our money.

Yes, i do and believe so.. Simply because you consider your (as with others) concerns greater than everyone elses and when the focus moves to something some ppl don't like then the drama. begins... like always... regardless of who says what.
The game is not allowed to breathe and far too much hate.
There is very little room for critical thinking on these forums as to when some things may or may not be possible, if ever, even if told no.
It is "i want now" rather than "can it be done now?" or "is it possible?"..
The word "demand" is not often used but that's what it equates to while muck is thrown, like a child who does not get its way.
The forum needs to grow up and stop pooping on the game because no good will come from it.
Nah. If FD fixed the bugs and didn't release pre-alpha rubbish as an apparently complete DLC, then the situation would be rather different.

My thought is that that they should have waited a year longer before releasing EDO.. Probably it was a corporate financial decision, in order to assure more revenues for 2021-2022. Was that a wise decision, I really can't tell.. Of course it sucks for us players...

The other thought is that EDO is a logical step in the Braben plan.. At some point they would have to add legs on planets and stations. It's right there in the original dream.. IMO, it's a necessary stepping stone to ship interiors and EVA.

And not adding FPS mechanics to EDO would really have left something important out..

I have watched this project from the kickstarter days, and finally bought it in 2018 when it started working on Linux. As a longtime observer from far, I have seen the project slowly taking form, and as a player myself I've seen several improvements since I started. I missed out on a lot of fun player created content, but hopefully there is more to come in the future..!

Do you remember the game in late 2014 when we were all thinking that ED was nearly there but just needed the placeholders removed, then FD released it?
I suspect the release schedule is more to do with when Mrs Braben wants a new car / boat than it does with when stuff is completed.

Not a personal critique, but this is the sort of assumption that the forum make from any comments from Brebus or FD in general - taking a passing comment and turning into a future promise.

As I say, not personal at all, just an example of how the forum reacts to any comments, a lot of the time (recently) because there is sod all communication from them!

I didn't watch the video though so I don't know when it's from, but I just wanted to explain to people passing through, how the rumours happen.

That's a lol too. I really can't comment on how and why FDev releases stuff, I really don't know..

I suspect it would have come over a lot better if they would have said: "Sorry, due to Covid we're running late, but we want to share our latest stuphz with you. We'll make a public beta that you can buy into, as a reward you'll get some exclusive ships like a Cobra mkIV and a Panther clipper." To me this would have come over a lot better, but would it have sold enough copies..? I really don't think it's possible that they didn't know that it had problems, maybe they underestimated how long it would take to fix it.

Galling as it all is, it's really nothing new and all in all I think we're on the way more cool things.

Indeed, this is the way!
So many members wish to quote phrases from a video made over 9 years ago as a promise that something will be in the game yesterday.
So sad that we are obviously in the final dying gasps of the game and so many promises remain just vapourware, if only the game could survive for a couple more weeks the developers could have included every single one of those promises into the game, alas, with Tencent being the prime contender here, it is blatantly obvious that this poor, beaten, dead horse will be finally put to rest.

You mean we won't be getting big game hunting?

Question; would a buyout be good for Elite ?
Fdev worked for almost 3 years on Odyssey and turned out a total buggy mess that even powerful computers couldn’t run.
Unfortunately, I don't think a big company like Microsoft is going to want to fix Odyssey. In my mind they'd have plans to market and/or port the other games Frontier own like that dinosaur game, zoos, and roller coasters. ED would fall by the wayside and become a casualty of the buy out. Worse case, the servers get turned off as well.

Oh man, I think I've succumb to the amount of doom in this thread :( Of course, I'm really hoping none of this is true and we can all forget this doom story ever appeared...

Nah, AFAIK Braben still owns a bit more than a third of the shares.. Especially if the buyer doesn't want ED, then he'll keep it and go on as an independent.. I really can't see him giving up the dream at this stage..!

No need to feel doom... Best is to lock yourself indoors and to play the game! Reading the forum or watching the news, that's doom..! :D
