Bset Mining Ship?

+1 for Type 10, with engineered thrusters I dont find it an issue traversing the inner reaches of an exploded roid.

This is my build for those interested, just replace the mining lasers with abrasion blasters.

Given that Equipment Inflation?

Type-10 all the way.

PS.
I still have my trusty old Mining Anaconda - and it retained a whopping two Weaponized Hardpoints. Almost undefended.

Since I like to travel between different Hotspots or log off during long runs, those magic insta-spwaning Pirate NPCs in the middle of nowhere are always there. It never fails.
Due to lack of Hardpoints credited to the Equipment Inflation, that already got me in trouble more than once.

I also don't like having to waste C3 hardpoints on C2 Equipment - but given the tight Equipment limitations and lack of C3 Mining Lasers... left with no reasonable choice.

Squeezing inside the blown core of an Asteroid isn't really nice in a Large Ship though. Works - but those big Asteroid pieces sure could drift apart some 250m more IMHO.

Even an Adder is a decent mining ship if you have a little over 2M credits. Ever since the new gold mine that's called asteroid core mining, you'll make that back and then some. Best is relative. Depends on funds available. When you can, you want a ship that has

1) Good cockpit FOV for spotting asteroids
2) Decent jump range
3) Enough internals to fit mining equipment
4) Enough internals to have 128+ tons of cargo.
5) Access to guardian FSD booster tech
6) DSS
7) Decent shield that can absorb asteroid shockwave blast and collisions with asteroids
8) A fuel scoop
9) Arguably high speed*

*I still prefer excellent FOV over speed, since the faster you go the easier it is to miss valuable asteroids.

Tried a few ships, and found a few important things to regard:

1. Cargo space - this one's a no-brainer
2. Room for Limpet controllers.
3. Maneuverability and speed.

I have tried mining in a T-10, Krait Phantom and Python. These ships can be regarded representative for similar ones. Personally I have found the Python to be the most useful one for my mining style:

- It has room for 192 tons of cargo. While not as much as larger ships, it's still enough to mine for 2-2,5 hours on end, which I find ideal, because I need a break after that amount anyway
- It has room for multiple limpet controllers. Mining with 5 active limpets is so much more satisfying than with 3 which I had in the Phantom.
- It is much more maneuverable than the T-10, which makes depositing the charges easier (and faster) and allows to fly between the cracked asteroid parts to scrape off the remaining chunks more easily.
- It is quite fast (almost 500 m/s), which considerably reduces the time to find the next core roid.

So anything bigger is too slow and cumbersome for my liking and anything smaller doesn't have enough internals for both, enough cargo space and enough limpet controllers.

I'm an impatient miner so I like the T6. Just enough capacity for me to fill shortly after I get bored. Mining isn't nearly as much of a commitment.

The T-6 doesn't have a medium hardpoint leaving it unable to do core mining, which is currently the most profitable method by several orders of magnitude.

You would be better off with a Cobra Mk3. Maybe you even find blowing up asteroids more fun than shooting rocks with a mining laser ;)

Depends.

My Anaconda is pretty good, but can get stuck trying to manoeuvre to break off surface deposits from cracked rocks.

But it can very easily defend itself, and still mine 300t~ before needing to off load and restock limpets.

I've yet to mine long enough to fill it though. Lol

Python is a bit more nimble, but carries far less, and is less able to defend itself.

For core mining only i have tested the aspx, the python, both kraits, t 10 and anaconda, for me the best pound for pound is the Krait MK2, fast, agile, hardpoints well placed for 2 abrasion blasters and one seismic charge, and still 2 large hardpoints for weapons. With almost 200 cargo space in 1h/1h30 you can get +200 millions and having fun at the same time because it's a really nice ship to fly.

i have tried the asp X, python and even anaconda in multicrew.

aspX seems to be the only one of the three that is able to use the advantage of 4 abrasion blasters hitting the same node, especially if you fit turrets and do get a gunner.
you still get one medium slot for the seismic charge and one to defend yourself.
