Ooooh Buggyball 2. I wonder if I will be able to repeat the podium from last time... perhaps not, there's quite a few people around this time ;) I won't be there today, but hopefully tomorrow, as I'm a couple of k away.

Intent to race:
Cmdr Ozric
Little Blue Dune Buggy

Good to see you Stern, SushiCW, Cookie, Oz.
Igor is looking forward to see what you can do on the course.
Ill put you on the grid around 6pm GMT.

Sushi yes one vid will work as proof for all classes if you are entering times from that one vid.
you don't need to upload that one yet though.. just some screen grabs of the clock and distance from wells is enough to get you on the board.

I did um and arr about allowing repair.. as in the wasat cup it incurred a penalty... and just thought...
even though its obviously a challenge to run the 90km without repairing.. Igor just wants to see some good times.

Quick question, it sounds from some of the early discussion about this event as if you might have experimented with aggro'ing the Zalyotin skimmers in order to dramatise your "jailbreak". I was thinking of trying this myself (shooting a skimmer on my way out in order to get chased by angry NPCs, perhaps even a patrol ship pursuing me all the way to Wells - which would be awesome). My question is, if I do this will Zalyotin let me back in or will I be effectively excluded from running the race again? (in which case I might leave that one until the final day).

if you are Killed by Zalyotin and that was your last dock, they are cool with it. if you get away.. I would imagine.. they wont like that.
Igor could be persuded to give a bonus prize if someone attempts to spring him from chokey.

About the distance-from-Wells-screenshots (maybe somebody has already asked this but I can't find it anymore): Is it ok if you don't look at Wells but see the distance in the lower left panel? Due to my buggy flying style (well, if I get the landings in between working without spinning around) I don't seem to have that much visuals with Wells... :D
And for the starting shot I took the last frame where the speed was still 0.
First submission should come in shortly. :)

Edit: I really need to increase the video quality if I want people to be able to read the tiny numbers on those pixelated screenshots

Send me what you've got Cookie and ill have a look.
I would prefer a shot of the clock with the distance , be that selected or bottom left.. as long as both are on the same shot.
if you keep wells relay selected as you race...it should be easier to get both in shot. if you are facing the right direction.

Ok so Here's the 2nd board of Day 1 , the start grid is filling up!

one new entry in 2 classes from Cookiehole, even though hes proclaiming hes not good at buggys.. we all know that's ca-ca..
and he proves it by squeezing in to first place by 1 second in the respawn machine for the County line class and second place in the Jailbreak class.

Just to say if your racing with assist on.. and you know that racing with assist on is slower than assist off. cool. more power to you.
if not.. for the love of speed.. turn it off. ;)
While we are at it.. full pips to engine.. and jump.. then tilt forward and boost to get your speed up higher.

Something changed in 2.1 and the SRV steering is now massively oversensitive. It's a real pain.

I was just thinking that last night as I was cruising around looking for arsenic for drive upgrades, but I had assumed it was just me not having driven it in a while.

At any rate, I'm not nearly good enough as a SRV jockey to try an event like this, but I salute you brave souls who are!

Have a go Rankaze, the Jailbreak class takes less than 10 mins. and like every buckyball you can repeat it and improve your time. all you've really got to do is turn assist off and drive like the wind! or drive like you've got wind! eithers good on an airless planet!

I think furrycat refers more to his freshly arrived force-sensing contraption, either way yes the feeling with the rover has changed a bit...but I don't feel it like it's overly sensitive, actually it seems to me they have refined the physics of wheels-ground contact. The srv is still spinning like crazy at every road bump (and the low gravity has a lot of guilt about that), but now it seems to give a better feeling of what each wheel is doing and under which force, Assetto Corsa it is not, but you can see there's a proper physics engine under the bonnet. Until a boulder half the size of one of your wheel makes you shift from moving to perfectly still in well under a femtosecond, at least.

My SRV driving is definitely in the "needs more practice" category (I'm not sure whether my total SRV distance driven has passed 250km yet), but I intend to have a go anyway. I expect it's the bottom end of the leaderboard I'll be competing for, though! But not until at least tomorrow :)

my website has gone gaga, pls bear with me while I rant at someone.. or transfer the images to the BRC site

Cheetah you can use repair synthesis.

6.50 km from Wells Relay, 40 minutes going on the run, and the client decides it was about time to crash. I'm not even swearing, I'm well past that stage. I'm literally stripping saints off the calendar. Crap those things, these "videogames", all this time spent sitting in front of a screen, the Internet, all pointless hobbies. As of tomorrow I'll be out phishing, doing cross-stitching, playing cricket, whatever.

Do it for fun, don't worry about whether you win or not. You may surprise yourself by getting into a rhythm and finishing faster than you thought possible!
