Community Event / Creation Buckyball Racing Club presents: Land of Hope and Glory (Dec. 5-11)

Thanks to Hanekura Shizuka for hosting this very special event and congratulations to cookiehole, Bruski and AkenBosch.

Still can't remember no. 10 ... suggestions welcome.

Thanks Hanekura, was a great little race.

Looking at my run I reckon I had another 2-3 seconds in me ;)

Congrats to the winners :)

And, as we tally the final results... Why am I not surprised.

I am grateful, though, because I would have hated to judge between AkenBosch and Bruski.

Assuming that there are no other entries lurking out there...

There were two spirited runs on the final day of competition - three if you count Bruski's work in its entirety. Bruski produced two remarkable runs; I went with the one that appeared to be the faster (I thought the one with a space in the 43 5 was faster by a hair). What I could not tell was whether Bruski was faster than AkenBosch – which would have made determining a winner awkward.

Fortunately… Cookiehole also came to race. Flying in to Dav's Hope on the last day and racing in the SRV “Suspension Failure”, Cookiehole bested all comers, running the Dav’s Hope course at 23:45 gametime and collecting all materials with a time of 42 seconds.

Congratulations to Cookiehole, and well done all around!

COOKIEHOOOOOOOLEEEEEE....

Congrats! I look forward to seeing the splitscreen movie someone promised to make.
:D

ANd hats off to Aken as well, I always appreciate such spirited competition. Even though seeing someone break my beautiful 46 made me tear up a bit. :'( However, it merely spurred me to greater heights myself!

Just gotta keep trying to climb that scoreboard...

Thanks so much Hanekura for this epic little race! I love how simple and fast it was, and agree with those who earlier called for more like it. :D

Plus, even though I've been to Dav's Hope many times, this was by far the most fun trip! (s) (My SRV blew up once, next time I brought four)

And congrats to all finishers, and those who learned of the magical bounties of this derelict station. :D

I could have easily done better than that but to my defence, after having traveled for almost 1800 km on the surface of Enceladus, my rover's tyres are showing quite a bit of wear. [hotas]

Alec, did you refill your stamp? I'd use my finely crafted one, but I'm on the wrong terminal at the moment. :p

A cold stare at cookiehole :D, a firm handshake with Bruski and general congratulations to everyone who raced, I'm just happy to have seen the leaderboard get properly crowded in the end, Hanekura's special little race deserved no less than that. I didn't realize how much fun it could be until I started whizzing around Dav's Hope. If we don't count the part about getting stuck just about everywhere, at least. [noob]

Until next time. o7

No, couldn't find anyone who stocked the ink ... hang on, maybe if I press really hard ...

Hanekura (or everyone in the top 6) ... could you pm me the video links for your winning entries so I can take a shot at the split screen video?

I nearly called it a day after my 44 s run, but then I thought "one last try won't do any harm". Sorry :p
Kudos to both of you, I don't think I would have managed a sub 44 time at all if it wasn't for a couple of lucky bounces in the submitted run.

Thanks again to Hanekura for hosting and to everybody who took part, see you at the next race! :)

First, thanks for participating, everyone; it's good to hear everyone enjoyed it. Came at a really odd time, but was fun.

As for the race videos themselves, I don't feel comfortable sending the links people PM'ed to their videos because, well, it's their videos. That said, I think the only one of the top six that didn't post their race publicly on this channel is Nitrogue; will PM him for permission.

Quick update to say that I now have all the top 6 video URLs and am downloading those as we speak.

I'm hoping to get some time to work on the split screen video today but what with christmas lurking and all I'm super busy so ... no ETA's no guarantee's!

Here you go folks, split screen comparison of the top 6 entries!

It was pretty tricky getting all the starts in sync' and I don't think Movie Maker has the accuracy to get them perfect but I'm pretty happy with this and the finishing order seems about right to me (I've arranged them so top row is positions 1-3 and bottom row is 4-6).

Cool comparison, thanks Alec!

The left side of the course was far more interesting than the right, with 3 variations in paths used, but each variation only by 1 person in the top 3.
