Community Event / Creation Buckyball Racing Club Presents: The Bump'n'Grind Outpost Dash (26.09.3301 - 11.10.3301)

Busy around here. First i see Cmdr Alot and follow him in. Then I see Cmdr goemon. He's so pleased to see me he kills me!!

Perhaps not so pleased to see me. Sorry about that, don't worry about it, job hazard. Sorry if it messed you up

well, a crash at crook hub is no big deal :) restart in 3 min... amazing that two eagles (imperial or not) can hit each other at all :D

i think this is not my day. either i forget screenshots, oor i crash fellow commanders, or i select the wrong system in the gal map... i will skip another run, and go to the bar directly! at least i safed the last rank for me :D

Therefore, it is with much dispair that I withdraw my intention to compete in the ongoing

Fair enough.

and any future events hosted by the Buckyball Racing Club.

Sorry, resignation not accepted. There will always be a place for you on the BRC scoreboard and I sincerely hope you'll reconsider and try again in a future event. I know it's a cliche but it really is the taking part and not the winning that counts. What else you gonna do? Trade commodities for the Daily Grind?

I do look forward to reporting on the results, as this has become quite an entertaining series to follow.
Perhaps in the not to distant future when the current shopping list of issues are resolved with the racing environment I will return as a competitor.

I look forward to seeing you back here in the not too distant future.

Thanking You, Ceska Zbrojovka.

No no, thank you. Keep up the terrific work at Radio Sidewinder.

Bad luck sir. Personally I've had my best run ever today, as has somebody else! I predict a VERY exciting scoreboard update tomorrow!

Well, with real-life (work + baseball playoffs + other stuff going on) not allowing me to get any runs in before today, I do not expect I shall be remotely competitive. But I'm not going to miss this, regardless.

Time to get this show up and out of the docking bay.

That's the spirit. You listenin' Ceska Zbrojovka? ;)

I should be back at the starting line in an hour or two, sans shields this time.

@Ceska: I sympathise about the slow witchspace tunnels, hopefully that'll be fixed for you (it's been working fine in 1.4 for me so far), I notice that the server status is almost always amber at the moment.

Regarding the harder interdictions (not impossible), it's kind of unfortunate that the race bridged the big update, but for future races it'll be the same for everyone - If the interdictions remain as hard as they are then we'll all be in the same boat so the race will still be equal. :)

I'm still hoping to get a faster run in tonight even with the increased NPC activity.

second try, destroyed fellow racer cheetah directly after launch, got destroyed by crook hub. sorry :-/

I did wonder what that explosion was... :D

Right... Time marginally improved, but only marginally... Think I might joker this one and call it a day! It's been good fun, and at times infuriating - if I get a race organiser to pick me a ship next time, I will not be accepting anything medium-pad if outposts are involved. :p

Quittin' talk
Hey, get back here... I deliberately flew a T6! Just waiting for those medium pads to go up and down makes up a decent portion of that 1:30 you lose in witchspace! :p

EDIT: So I didn't want drakhyr to beat me to Poincare in case he stole my medium pad... Had to make sure :D

They really have screwed up the interdiction mechanics, haven't they?

I just had an interdiction where I was dead on the escape vector and the meter was still dropping.

Well, blast it, it looks like I'm not going to be able to get a run in after all.

Something about Shadowplay keeps causing my graphics driver to crash, and when that happens, I don't just lose the recording, but I lose all video output from Elite (I still get sound for a little while until that crashes too).

It's happened now two runs in a row.

EDIT: I'll update my graphics driver and try another run later and see if it works, but I don't really have a lot of time to devote to troubleshooting this.

Another disappointing couple of runs tonight. There seems to be some kind of phenomenon in Witchspace increasing the amount of time between jumps. My best time the last two nights was 23:06, which probably would've been below 21 minutes before this whole disruption started. I might be able to squeeze in a run or two tomorrow morning before work, and maybe a couple runs after work.

That's right folks, Cmdr Kliggson has manged to push his Cobra "Bingo Wings" to its limits and claim the number one slot! With an extraordinary 17:38 run (finishing with 67% hull still remaining) he broke out the Win It or Bin It joker for real this time leaving the Speed Kitten stranded nearly half a minute behind. Congratulations commander!

Kliggson's prayers that "Alot doesn't break out the Eagle" appear to have been answered (for now) as Cmdr Alot has been pushing his Lakon Type-6 beyond it's limits (remember, this is a trading ship) to smack down at Cady Hub's only medium sized pad with just 17% hull in an incredible 18:44. He's also submitted the joker on this final run in the Deep Six to drop into third place with a recorded time of 17:44.

Looks like they've got you surrounded furrycat!

And last but not least, after several days trying to beat my own Imperial Courier time in it's speedy little cousin the Imperial Eagle, I've finally managed to do it with a time of 21:07. It was, if I do say so myself, an absolutely perfect run with some of the best landings I've ever done in this game so I have no hesitation in handing in my second (and probably last) joker to record a time of 20:07 and grab myself the number 10 slot.

That's it for today folks, real life is urgently calling me away. There's still everything to play for in this final day of racing for those with the energy and/or determination to do so. May your interdictions be few, your witchspace transitions be fast and your landings pads always appear right in front of you.

Good luck commanders.

Nah, no last-minute Eagling from me. :)

That's a damn fine time Kliggson, especially since you're having to convince a Cobra to stop from (I'm guessing) 460 or so in a timely fashion!
I'll be looking forward to that run video for sure, I could use some tips on stopping Cobras in a hurry :D

Speaking of which... Here's mine! I threw 5 seconds away at Whitworth by forgetting that landing gear was a thing, but apart from that I think it was a pretty decent run. Certainly not one I could reliably improve on, anyway. :p

Congratulations Cmdr Kliggson!

In other news, I learned I should not race on an empty stomach.

Despite smooth transitions and no interdictions (though I lost a few seconds evading an interdiction attempt) poor braking and docking, combined with an occluded Dvoruba, left me with nothing joker worthy, and a time of 23:44. Would you believe I missed the platform entirely on one of my docking attempts?

Here's hoping I get home with enough time for some more runs before midnight Galactic Standard Time (7pm in my neck of the woods).

Cheers, but its not over yet.. I think theres 30 seconds to be had off my time..
youd have probably got 15 mins 40 or something silly alot.
I've tried to get my raptr thing to record elite but it doesn't like it.. so just screenies for me sorry.
I flirted with the other fast ship the imp eagle. but it didn't seem to get up to the speed it said it could. 460+ and yes the cobra takes 4 km of slowing down going at that speed.
good luck all.
