Hey there,

I've just returned to civilized space this morning and just got the results of the trip. Ship integrity was at 21,60%, total repair cost has been 2,700.000 Cr. I have to remember I haven't had a single incident during the travel. And just a pic for the result I think is totally worth the effort :)

Fly fast take chances. xD
Well he did say he wasn't making a speed run. :)

I think integrity might still be bugged since 1.3 - although I've not been keeping too up to date with the patch notes, as most of the fixes aren't relevant to me until I return to the bubble.

Obviously my Asp is much cheaper than your Python, but I think my integrity costs were only about 150K when I returned from my first run. I'd been unshielded and I think my integrity was down to 1% or 0%.

BTW: Remember to always sell your data before repairing integrity as there's supposed to be a 50% discount if you're allied with the station. I've no idea whether the discount works with the current bugs.

And now a word from your absentee race host...

Ahh, back in the saddle again! Now that Drakhyr has left me high and dry, I guess it's up to me to start updating the board again. And I just bought that roll of blue tape, too... ;)

(Seriously, though, if you haven't done so, go back and rep Drak for all his hard work. Still trying to think of a more tangible way to say thanks!)

First off, shocking news. Senator Denton Patreus, a man with absolutely no sense of humor whatsoever, has interdicted the ship that was delivering the BBRA* bumper stickers and he has confiscated them all, for some unknown reason that has nothing to do with anything I did. So for the time being, there are no Buckyball Run A* stickers to be had. I don't like it any more than you, but that's the way the Buckyball bounces.

The good news is everybody who has completed the race to this date and sent their address will get their bumper stickers! Toward that end, let's take a look at the big board! Picking up where Drakhyr left off on the 14th we've got a bunch of new finishers as well as a couple of visitors from off site, as well as a whole slew of record breakers.

Coming in 16th is CMDR Wizzy1980 in the Asp Kicker, followed by CMDR Funnyguy77 in his Asp The Defiant in 22nd. CMDR Ekol Tieja set the bar for the Imperial Courier at 40th, giving the sleek bird its BBRA* debut. (Ekol, the sticky note with your ship's name fell off.) Meanwhile, CMDR Serraphix brought the newly-minted Diamondback Scout Vakarian to Sadge to come in 45th, along with fellow first-time Buckyballer CMDR Chance in the Diamondback Explorer in the Ember coming in 51st. The third member of their expedition, CMDR Brayzure, experienced difficulty with the transponder on the Valiant and we will update the entry when the data comes through. Finally, CMDR Yodead finished a nice, leisurely stroll to the Center of the Galaxy in the aptly named Space Tortise. It doesn't matter how long it takes as long as you get there in the end.

Well done, Commanders!

The Top Times by Ship Type gets its first update in over three weeks, and what a busy time it's been! In addition to the CMDRs mentioned above, we have CMDR Hanekura Shizuka with the BBRA's first Adder to cross the finish in the form of the Shadow Lurk. CMDR Alot, a name familiar to almost every racer in the milky way by now, retakes the top Anaconda and overall time in his trusty Conda Rhonda. CMDR Takaru Minari gets one step closer to getting a Buckyball Bingo, setting his 3rd class record in the Diamondback Scout Cookies.CMDR Backer completed the first successful run in the Fer-De-Lance S.S. Minnow, and CMDR Rusticolus made a stunning run in the Running Bare to take the top Hauler slot. CMDR Crotalus set a new record for the Python, and last but not least, Buckyball Uber-Veteran FoxTwo closes out the board with a bang in his Vulture Suicide Bomber, guaranteed to take the express lane back from Sadge. On to 70 Virginis, indeed!

Once again, I have to thank Drakhyr for his hard work in keeping up with the stats to the point of sending me a copy of his spreadsheet so I wouldn't have to comb the board looking for names and times. Therefore, any mistakes you see are his fault. ;)

Now if you'll excuse me, I gotta go see if I can get that transport out of impound. I have a few choice words to write on the ticket...

Yay, and we're back! Thanks (again) to Cmdr Drakhyr for services to the BBRA above and beyond the call of duty.

Quick question on the big board EZ, if the dots signify participation in other Buckyball Runs then I think I'm owed a dot for my BBR6 entry (even tho' I did come 2nd to last)?

Welcome back EZ, good to have you around again, and hope your vacation was top of the pops! :D
Also props to Drakhyr for all the great effort in between!!

Alec I think this has to do with CMDR Cookiehole's dot eating bots or something. It all went pear shaped around here in BBR7. Ever since then apparently if you query dots you get boxed by Bucky and loose a dot from you collection. I'm owed back about nine and a half dots and still have a black eye, so I've stopped asking... ;)

BIGGUS BOARDUS
Woo, Bucky's back! Hooray! Oh yeah, and that other guy too... :D

... followed by CMDR Funnyguy77 in his Asp The Defiant in 22nd.
I'm very glad he's on the board, I think he was going to (virtually) shake me to death if he didn't appear for another few days! Please do send him a sticker though, otherwise I think he'll probably do it... :p

Damn those Cookiebots! :D

Well, it happens that I live relatively close to Drakhyr; I'm sure I could repay him a bit in the form of a few pints! :D

OK, I've done some investigation re: "Dotmageddon" and I think I can see what's happened. You know those bits of blue sticky tape that EZ has been using on the big board? well it turns out the dots weren't stuck down properly and when I peeled those bits of tape off and checked on the underside, look what I found!

P.S. sorry, not sure where that pube came from tho'

Great to have you back EZ!
72 official finishers... (although some with multiple ships), that is INSANE! :D
Kudos to every one of you.
Does buckey have something special in mind for finisher no. 100? ;)

Oh No you don't!!! Don't even think of it!
You've already got enough Trophies and Accolades to sink an Anaconda.
You're not adding 100th Finisher of the Buckyball A* to that list.

:D

Although we could make it a bit of a race...those interested all line up at Galileo and start at the same time...winner gets 100th finisher glory...

Just tell him someone needs fuel off towards Barnard's Loop, should keep him busy long enough to put him at the back of the pack ;)

Haha... Nice idea, but I think you might struggle for numbers - it's hard enough to find a time that one Buckyballer can play for an entire day, let alone lots of them! :p

LOL, that's the exact opposite of a comment I made over at Fuel Rats to stop him from bagging all the fuel runs 😀

P.S. we love you really Anuranium, I'm forever in your debt for being on guard at the end of my Sag A run (which, by the way, is now a mere 900ly away from round-trip completion)

Don't worry mate. I am thankful for all the Trophies and Accolades I've gotten, but the bumper sticker is by far the thing I'm most proud of. I believe there are more people here who are too. After all, finishing this race, wether you are going for a record time or not, is an accomplishment in itself.
I was merely suggesting a small extra carrot, or some way of celebration to the one who finishes as the 100th racer to Sag A*.

Thank you, much appreciated.
I'm having fun, and you guys are the ones who makes this possible. Any debt is hereby erased ;)
Oh, and Alec: Murishani has this excellent service for explorers who are re-entering civilization. You might want to check it out here.

Edit: Remind me to hit the refresh button before I start posting.

Esvandiary that is freaking hilarious! Why don't you apply for a position in FD and start making vid's for them? Truly this is far better advertisement than what they currently are producing :D

Alright, I'm going to do the EZ special and nick the top of the page... Hopefully the cause is worthy. :p
[snip awesomeness]
Enjoy :D

It appears that your combat style has been learning heavily from Buckyball Runs (moving from putting dents in station walls to putting dents in starships...) :)
