BUG: black screen when getting in or out of srv

I have the same problem.

Here in the forum they told me that only I have it and that it had never happened to them.

Interestingly, they responded the same to 4 other people having the same problem. But they also say that there are not enough people to consider it a problem.

It happens to me only very rarely and it is just a bit annoying. I usually exit from the black screen (keys and sound still work) to the main menu and log back in. Never lost a SRV or ship. But it is clearly a bug that should be fixed.

It happens the same when the game does a CTD when on foot away from the SRV.

All that happens, in both cases, is that the SRV is returned to the ship, so no massive issue.... Well, as long as the body isn't so hazardously hot or cold that the player isn't cooked or deep-frozen before they get back to the ship :ROFLMAO:

I have had the disembark / embark SRV bug many times in the past, but it does seem to happen less often since U13

Nope, it was never said that only you had it, stop making up stuff.

It is true however that it has never happened to me. Only twice have I had a black screen leaving the ship but never the SRV.

This has been a thing since odyssey launch when disembarking/embarking both the ship and the SRV.

It's kinda rare, but due to other odyssey gameplay mechanics it's extremely punishing.

Crash out like this after joining a foot CZ? Teleported back to station without your ship.
Crash out like this at an odyssey settlement you planned to loot? The loot won't spawn if you log in.

Not sure if there's a chance of you dying and losing your ship if you get stuck like this while under fire, but I can see it happening.

If you are at a poi (or settlement fwiw) and you get a drop of scavs, and you try to flee to the srv, while under fire and it happens, you are dead.
Same if you land at an shutdown settlement and come under fire while landing and you get the black screen while disembarking - you may get the rebuy screen on reload, depending on how strong your ship is or how slow/fast you actually crash.

However, while i did have several blackouts like these in the past, statistically it was not often enough to have it happen during combat - but obviously it cannot be totally ruled out no matter how slim are the chances.

It has happened to me too but unlike you I am not concerned. Doesn't happen often enough on either PS4, PS5 nor PC for it to be a worry.

Well, I have committed a good amount of time looking into this. It plagues me endlessly. After several posts here, reddit, and discord, and based on my research it has everything to do with the server you are connected to. I have no hard data to support this but for discussion sake, let's say I have done enough research to take my 100 mpbs connection out of the mix. My conclusion is that these problems with instancing between SRV/Ship and on foot and on foot back are not going to be solved. What has to be solved though is not losing your srv in the process. If you get the black screen and reinstance on the planet surface, your srv should still be there. It will not be fixed. The current crew does not have the chops.

I have an AMD and it's happened to me occasionally. Just now in fact - I disembarked from the SRV to collect some exobiology but the screen went black and stayed black, so I exited to the main menu, but when I went back in the SRV was gone, because it was back on the ship which was about 2K meters away. So could have been a long walk but I managed to avoid it by pressing Q and using the item wheel to dismiss and recall the ship from on-foot, which soon after landed a short distance away from where I was standing.

It's possible the bug can be avoided by only pressing your disembark key briefly - ie don't keep it pressed for too long.

I never experienced this problem before update 14 came in, so looks very much like it's a bug in that update.

There's GOT to be a way to fix that. That's simply intolerable. If that were happening to me on a regular basis, I'd have gone mad by now.

It would be interesting to know what everybody's graphic settings are. I just wish there weren't so many of them. Just to see if there's any common denominator.

Today is January 15th 2023
And Its my very first time on a planet (I am extremely new) to Elite Dangerous with only 1 or 2 days old.
With that said, This just happened to me right this very second. I got out of my SRV and the screen went completely black. SMH.
I don't know what to do.
But I will take the advise of ( Kathryn Kando ) and log out and then log back in. Hopefully I dont lose anything as I have been scanning so many things on the planet.
:/

In my case the SRV is always back in my ship. So, I relog and I'm all alone on the planet surface. I need to recall my ship. Depending on terrain characteristics, she lands pretty close or pretty far away from me. Good to have this in mind when you decide to disembark from your SRV. ;)

Yeah, my friend gets it all the time, while I don't. He's quite frustrated with it an slowing down on playing the game. He has to rejoin, then get a team invite, and run back to his ship to get his SRV. Happens several times in the course of a few hours and he's tired of it.
