(Bug?) Instant Scan Security Forces

Never really done any passenger mission stuff before. Went out and refitted my Anaconda and jumped out to the middle nowhere to start up some missions.

I fill up the best I can with passengers and I must have missed that one was illegal, because when I started to launch I saw the little "Illegal passenger" warning.

I figure "Ok, I'll just deal with it when I get back"

WRONG

Exiting the slot, nose is just poking out, I see "SCAN DETECTED" and hit a heat sink. Before I am out of the cage (going full speed), the system security guys just start to blast me and I get a 150cr fine.

I get away, I do the missions, whatever.

I come back, I make it in and pay my fine so I can turn in. Then I'm...in prison for a 150cr fine? Ok. Launch, silent running+ heat sink, get out of there. Make it back to original point.

Going inside, "Scan Detected" hit heat sink and silent running Instantly - before I hit 2 buttons , they are blasting me again, another 150cr fine. I end up dying because no shields.

So then I have to pay 12.5 million (plus 150cr) and fail all missons.

What the hell just happened? Why can they scan instantly now ? And why is a 150 credit fine getting me executed? Why am I imprisoned over it?

Pretty lame

I'm not sure but does the game count firing a heat sink in the starport as weapon fire?
Sounds like you popped it inside.

Security forces are overly harsh in space. It has always been like this. But insta-scan, this I've never seen. Maybe those were two simultaneous scans, and the first one finished shortly after the other on started?

Security can still resolve a scan with silent running + a heatsink dumped if they are within 500m.

Also...

So, you went to a rebuy screen & detention center? Coz that only happens if you hand yourself in, meaning that was a bounty, not a fine.

Too slow, dont get scanned. Drop from FSD at the station, request permission and go silent instantly. A boost is optional at this point, then you use heatsink as a pre emptive measure because they scan cycles faster than your heat sink. You want at least two heatsink lanchers and using your skill and timing you will get home.

You sure about that? I know they can lock you thru silent via line of sight but a correctly dropped sink breaks all locks afaik. I think this has to be true or the station would be able to lock you .

I have never been scanned leaving a station ever so i cant comment on that.

I've read the actual statements from FD somewhere else, but as a first-pass,

There are two caveats to silent running benefits:

A) when your ship gets very close to another vessel its sensors will be able to detect you even if you are rigged for silent running. This auto-resolve distance is normally around two to three hundred metres.

So, not 500m, but still a minimum distance (I was thinking of Thargoids)

Well if he says its 500 then it must be in cases where they have those sensors, but pre emptive heatsinking is how you get in. I say that from practicing the sothis run over and over. I use 4 sink lanchers on my annaconda and i dont get caught. Im dropping them at like.. 1 second or 1.5 second intervals all the time, scans or not. They wont have me :)

When you lock at NPC and it heatsinks, you noticed how you end up locking the heatsink instead? Pretty sure that works both ways.

I read that link you put up and as you see in the comments it talking about what mods for silent? That probably matters aswell, the right mods will likely make it easier and also different ships have an easier or harder time i think.

1) Were you in open and somewhere popular? I have known CMDRs to scan ships (even still in the station)
2) You say you are new to pax missions - so maybe you think you are fast but are slow. Security can be a pain on entry but shouldn't have time to catch you on exit - what are you flying - non-Engineered T9 maybe? 🤔
3) Wouldn't bother with SR - H/S will break scans - or just 'git speedy'
4) Getting scanned with criminals on board gets you a bounty - as fdev showed themselves ;)

I know this prison 😉mechanic is intended. It's still dumb. Call it a fine or a bounty😉, it's still a 150cr blip😉 that shouldn't be worth prison. 😉

You should read entire posts😉 before using random emojis 😉 to convey smugness😉
