Building a Cutter battleboss is no fun

420M credits for reactive armor, plus literally HUNDREDS of MILLLLLLLLLIONS credits for the other stuff = grind and makes me sad+angry a bit. But I already bought the paint pack so no stopping now!!!!!!

So far it is. The armor is the last item because I have the Prismatic Grade 8 shield but it's not engineered yet. Only 300M credits to the armor.

I disagree I found building my Cutter battle boss immense fun.
Then again i had:

  • 2 billion in credits
  • maxed out materials for engineering
  • all the engineers unlocked and ranked up
  • in depth knowledge of engineering modules from previous attempts at engineering my other ships
  • a lot of time
  • a want to try out different modules and weapons to see what worked best

Without even one or two of the above i would have found it incredibly frustrating.

A day's profit of core mining will probably make you smile again when looking at that credit balance.

Just hop into a DBX and make a short exploration trip. Go visit X Carinae or something else close by. Find a couple of ELWs and you're golden.

That's one of the reasons it took me a year to build my first Corvette.

With so many weapons, modules and utilities the entire process was just bewildering.

The best advice I could offer would be to build it in Coriolis.io and then pick specific things (a weapon, the shield, the HRPs, the SBs or whatever) and then focus on completing it, go and do something else for a while and then go back and complete some other part of the Cutter after you've replenished your stock of mat's.

If, however, credits are an issue, you probably shouldn't be flying it anyway.

1.3 billion to build my combat cutter @ a 50mill rebuy. then months to fully engineer it ( old way )

I hate to state the obvious, but if you don't think it's fun, then maybe don't do it?

Is not enjoying the game really worth the cost of a paint job?

Translation - Having the most expensive ship in the game takes work. Who knew. :D

I used to have a Cutter.

Only thing that took work was turning around and slowing down.

Watch out for Mambas bringing reverberating cascade presents.

Dual large lightweight reverberating cascade torpedo pylons, a small high-cap dumbfire rack with FSD interrupt, a fixed focused emissive pulse laser, and a huge gimbaled OC corrosive MC for one of my mamba loadouts. Don't use it much, but it's fun, and it's light enough to be on my exploration setup.

Never met an NPC with special effects on their weapons.

They aren't that rare in high-threat signal sources.

No reverberating cascade yet though, except on ATR.

And another one who builds one of those mobile panic rooms... I'm gonna start to shoot Cutters on sight solely because I despise them and the gameplay that this kind of ship brings...
