[Builds] Best rl button control panel layout for 3.3

I am fascinated by this Freespace 2 user's real-life button control panel build: https://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=85509.20

Before I set to work on my own for E: D, I am curious if anyone already has customized a layout for such extensive panels, including the new mode switches for Orrery/Discovery mode and such.

That is a lot of buttons. I know people have built their own arduino-based controllers in the past around here. Had I any longer the steady hand or visual acuity, I'd likely construct my own as well.

Quite fond of this particular style of push-button. The front panel, well, that could be made of anything - it's really just to keep the buttons in place.

Not done one for Elite, but made many, many, many, for Flight Simulator. A simple button matrix with Arduino UNO and a USB HiD backend. For front panels I typically used clear perspex overlaid on a coloured perspex or vinyl sprayed perspex.
