C&P...Does it work?

Still sulking because you lost the argument I see. Its just video game spaceships no need to take it all to heart.

By C'thulhu's tentacles... it's Stig vs. Stealthie, Round X+1

I enjoy reading both of you - I really do. But put you two in the same thread and it's like mercury fulminate and an auto-hammer.

Which, for some twisted reason I don't fully understand, is strangely amusing as well.

Carry on carrying on.

So, I use an X56 joystick which apart from is appalling build quality (and software) is an excellent joystick for ED.
Every 5th or 6th time I start the game I have to re calibrate my joystick. The 1st sign that it needs calibrating is when I hit launch and my ship starts spinning in circles in the station. I usually press escape (which pauses the ship) and I re calibrate. Pop back into the game and I'm good top go. However, on this occasion I'm in my cutter and upon popping back into the game I find my ship was destroyed. Apart from the 37 million rebuy which is over 10 hours of game play for me. I am sent to the local penal colony, it seems I incurred a 800 credit fine for blowing up inside a station. For me C&P adds nothing beneficial to the game and is a pain in the neck.

Escape doesn't pause the ship. Loitering inside a starport leads to fines and subsequent destruction by authorities.
If you ask support nice you could propably get your rebuy refunded.
But it still is a "pilot error" and no reason to change the loitering rules, otherwise we have the unfortunate situation of griefers inside the docking bay again.
Better change your joystick or your input method to KB/M.

Without reading the whole thread, does it make sense that the notoriety timer for a 5000cr kill bounty is the same 2 hours than for a 200cr bounty (that rather should be a fine imo) for a single friendly fire shot? I'm basically fine with the new C&P system but things like this should be a little more finegrained imo.

You don't get Notoriety for a single friendly fire shot, so no - your scenario makes no sense.

That's not really an issue with C&P. You could quickly check calibration before logging in if its a regular thing, set up a shortcut to it on your desktop and have a quick look first.

2 Things:-

1) Pressing escape doesn't pause the game.
2) Loitering gets you a FINE and not a BOUNTY.

If it was me, I'd suggest just routinely recalibrating your joystick prior to launch.
Or, y'know, get it fixed.
The X56 is a nice joystick when it's working right, and the faults are usually just caused by dodgy wiring.

If you DID get sent to prison after having your ship destroyed for loitering (and not because you had an outstanding bounty as well) then bug-report it.
Fines are not supposed to get you sent to prison.
It's happened to me 3 or 4 times, though, so I know it happens.
It's a bug. Report it.

It was not a fine for loitering as I was only about 60 seconds. Usually my ship just spins harmlessly but I assume on this occasion it was rolling along the inside of the station. I was probably fined for damage or something. Pretty sure the station destroyed me.
As far as ESC pausing the game. I was sure that in solo it paused the game. Maybe it just disables the input from my joystick because in solo it stops my ship from spinning.

As an aside. I had the cargo for 3 transport mission on board. Of course the cargo was lost. I went to another station and purchased replacement cargo for the missions. I'm at the destination now but it wont let me hand over the cargo. So, Is this some sort of special way of punishing players or am I missing something?

If you were doing a transport mission, the cargo is "unique", which means it can't be replaced.

How, exactly, did you get your Cutter?

LOL, cancelled the 3 missions, 5.2 million in fines

I got most of my money without missions. I pretty much hate 90% of the missions in ED.
