I'm really feeling shortchanged here... This isn't even close to 100 reasons.

LOL, some people really do want zero consequences for their actions.

And some people really do just want any and every excuse they can to shoot real players with no consequence, which is where most of the "pro Crime and Punishment" arguments come from. You don't want consequences for actions. You just want people to get slapped with "WANTED" as frequently as possible so you can get your "gameplay" shooting them.

If this is a straight interpretation of the UK self-defense laws, it sort of works as an emulation of the ridiculously pedantic mess they are, but this is a game and it's all too easy for straight-laced law abiding players to randomly get granked (yes, that's right, I made up a word so nobody can be offended I used the wrong one) by this shorlacking (I did it again - though maybe I accidentally just cursed in Norwegian) system. There are bugs aplenty. I recently went on a tirade somewhere on here because I got hit with a fine for "reckless weapons discharge" for shooting a WANTED enemy who'd I'd already fully scanned up. What a load of briemjagen.

Before we had notoriety we had to wait an amount of time that depended on the level of the crime. So for example killing another player was a week, unless it was 'claimed' (you saw the rebuy screen). This time penalty was much more inconvenient than notoriety but had the unfortunate loophole that if you bought a stock sidewinder & let the station police scan you & blow you up your bounty was cleared (forgive the haziness of this, it was not a loophole i ever exploited myself).

So to solve this problem the bounty was put on the ship. No more suicidewinder exploit, if you want to clear your bounty you still can but it's going to cost you a lot of money.

In turn, closing this loophole allows what was potentially a week of waiting to get rid of the bounty (I used to go exploring until the heat died down) to be just 2 hours per offence, up to a maximum of 20 hours (not really sure, I'm not that blatant a criminal).

So notoriety is, while not perfect, a considerable improvement for those of us that didn't exploit loopholes in the game rules, and naturally, sucks for those that liked to cheat.

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time, it's really easy ;)

I've murdered loads of skimmers. Never got any Notoriety doing those mission.

You have a bug, of a hyperbolic keyboard.

Hi! *waves in a friendly fashion* I got a bounty killing stupid skimmers guarding the meta alloys I grinded a half an hour across the galaxy to get. *waving becomes more vigorous, ever more friendly*

I'll get your coat.. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

It's like a compulsion. A tic. Like, the nervous reactions people have, a jerk of the neck, a forced cough. They have to do it. I try not to comment, because I generally want to afford people a buffer, or "room to be," as it were, but sometimes.... sometimes.... I just want to ask: does it satisfy you? Do you feel satisfied? :-D Fulfilled? Like, reflexively being irritating with these copy-pa.... with these little nervous tics, does it make you feel better about yourself? Y'know, as a person?

How much coffee have you had today?

I'll agree that the consequences for certain actions in the current C&P is unbalanced, but OP is really needs to put down the space sim and resume his "I win" game!

Are we talking about in game C&P, as that is a repeat of a very serious accusation

What utter nonsense. I want a meaningful system where a criminal can carry their notoriety around with them full time. The anti crowd don't aid their argument with these hyperbolic threads.

One day you’ll learn the difference between a bounty and notoriety. Maybe when you read the C&P guide on the launcher.

Can someone translate the OP into English? I'm struggling to understand their point, other than a vague sense they seem to be accusing Frontier of 'bit-mining' whatever the heck that is.

proof or it didn't happen. this is a serious accusation.

I really hope you don't take this seriously :D

Edit: for Marrs

Bit mining is using computing processers (CPU or GPU) to solve crypographic puzzles/equations which, once solved, provide access to a number of coins of the cryptocurrency being mined. Bitcoin being the most well known.

The OP is accusing FD of having introduced C&P to force players to stay logged into the game but to not play it (hence AFK), so that the game can highjack their computer to mine cryptocurrencies.

I hope that clears it up for you. Don't try to make any sense of it, because there isn't any!

Cheers, I thought he probably meant bitcoin mining. Not heard it called bit mining before. As a conspiracy theory that seems pretty far-fetched.

I've not really encountered notoriety in game yet (I'm a good boy). Does being notorious really mean you have to have the game open but can't do anything? That seems unlikely.

Notoriety means you can't access interstellar factor and pay your fine/bounty, so you stay wanted with bounty hunters after you (or you switch ships). It decays at one point every two hours of game time, so you can still play all you like.

You have to be properly naughty to get any, FF or reckless flying won't do it.

If you get it up to ten MOM's pet NPC's will kick you in the trousers.
