Calling all Federation Commanders - We are at War with the Empire

So we turned a negative into a positive, and we keep Liaedin.

And the best thing is we've avoided an early war. But the Imp and Federal warhawks have showed their true colours. Now We Imperial and Federal commanders can weed these war hawks out.

Mice are the ones that hide in the weeds CMDR... Hawks soar the sky's while hunting mice. Their talons are sharp and they strike with speed and accuracy before feasting on their pray!

Watch the skies CMDRs, you will never know when hawks eyes are watching you until it is far too late....

Ah... Mr Maccus, what do you know of terror? Your insubstantial accusations are as worthless as ever. Why waste your precious time pleading for peace? War is inevitable, war is coming, war is already upon us and you are powerless to stop it. Your time would be better served by stating in clear terms, if that is even possible, on which side you stand. Draw your sword and carry it high so we can aim our beams directly at it.

As for myself and the forces of the Dark Armada, our position has been always and shall remain ever more, clear as virgin ice. The Empire is our father, the Empire is our mother and all those who oppose the unbreakable Empire shall suffer wrath, death and glory in the void.

Imperial brothers and sisters rise and prepare for a red dawn. If this conflict disturbs you, it is nothing compared to what is coming...

Wonderful, the Imperial Terrorists show up.

I'm starting to realize that there's a lot of blind patriotism going around on both sides of this conflict. Heck, I am blood related to the Faveol line, and even I see no purpose to this madness. My own employees are, as we speak, shooting down Patron's Principles vessels in Volungu in the name of peace.

Answer me this, Empire and Federal zealots alike, what is there to be gained from all this? Why shatter a millennium's long era of peace, and start a massive war, which neither side realistically has a chance of "winning." Sure, Liaeden would fall if all out war was declared. It's surrounded by Federal systems. It would be a slaughter. Then the "border" systems would be embroiled in a massive conflict, with systems being traded by both sides on a daily basis, in a combat that would see no true end until another peace treaty was drafted. The last war was simply a prolonged slap fight, with neither side making much leeway, or making any drastic changes to the already long established territories. What is there to gain? The eradication of a culture? Are we so embedded in humanity's bloody history that we continue to repeat such idiotic and inhuman acts? As a man of business, there is no profit in a war between the Empire and the Federation. As an Imperial, there is no honor in fighting the Federals abroad. Peace must remain my fellows. Else we continue to repeat the idiotic actions of our forefathers going back to the days of prehistoric nomadic hunter gatherers on earth.

Federation commanders,

This the cold harsh voice of the true Empire, this is a glimpse of the might that we will soon all face. I am in agreement with the dark armada on one thing, war is inevitable.

Prepare yourselves commanders, use the money you have gained in defending Volungu to upgrade your ships, war is inevitable and will be here soon.

OOC: You scum... actually baiting me into visiting and writing on these forums. I hate this place.

IC: This is not the voice of the true Empire. It's the voice of the Dark Armada. They're a small radical group. We're not the voice of the true Empire either. We're a private enterprise... a community-minded one that seek to keep the peace in Liaedin.

OOC: We want a Fed/Empire war... EVENTUALLY. Let FD get to it when it's ready to go. If we force it now it's a wasted opportunity because the game can't support the war we deserve.

You should certainly hold off on war (barring CG of course) and engage in peaceful trading in preparation for that day, but that day will not come until after 1.3 hits and bugs are fixed. If 1.3 is all that we feel it is, then the game will be dramatically changed.

Remember that every hour spent on running silly missions for the CFC in Liaedin is an hour NOT spent on trading and bounty hunting for nicer, shinier ships.......and/or extra insurance padding for when we Imperials inevitably blow you up. Keep that in mind. ;)

Also, the Devs are very much fans of House of Cards and Game of Thrones, and I suspect the story lines in the Federation and the Empire closely mirror both of these shows in their own way. If you know how the stories of both these shows (and their books) have gone so far, you can make some fairly good guesses as to what is likely to happen.

So, in a word: Thargoids! :D

This discussion continues to prompt me to retch. Clearly I stumbled into a circus, because these clowns wont be silent. So many presume to speak on behalf of the Emperor, or even their Federal President. Such a dishonorable thing to do, to assume to know the wants and wishes of our dear ruler. Until the day comes that the Emperor himself, and the Federal's President sound the horns of war there will be peace at large. Until then you can call continue to slap each other around like school children when the next Lugh brushfire rebellion pops up. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got some vacation time to cash in on.

Thanks for everyone actually taking my character seriously. I wasn't aware that people hadn't caught on to the fact that Duris Maccus is a haughty, bumbling, and overly entitled Business Tycoon, who is very much akin to Donald Trump. I won't apologize for anything previously said, because it was an act.

Now, if I may say my honest views, as a player of the game with no real allegiance beyond just having fun with a bloody game (what a novel concept amirite?), and not as the fictional multi-millionaire jackalope who views people as not much more than things to be bought and sold; I honestly believe war on the scale that you all want is not obtainable. The instancing system is wholly unreliable. Most of the time when I play in open, I am by myself because my rural american internet is utter tripe. I wouldn't be able to get invovled in a war like this currently. Beyond just that, the actual mechanics for a massive war between Empire and Federation don't exist. Don't lie to yourselves thinking that they are. We can't push for something like this to come to a head before Powerplay comes into circuit. I know that the community at large is chomping at the bit for some action. However, maybe try for something smaller in scale? More akin to the Lugh conflict? I mean, there's nothing stopping you all from killing one another right now as of this moment. Y'all don't need FD to create a story for it. I mean, if you're looking for an excuse to commit wanton murder, just do it!

A war between the Empire and Federation is coming. I think we all know that. We should be patient however, as a war with the current game mechanics wouldn't be very interesting or particularly much fun. It'd be more of the same, just with different lore/meta text via GNN. That idea just makes me shurg and let out a, "meh." When a war with the Empire and Federation occurs, I want to see Capitol Ships fighting one another, with clouds of fighters obliterating one another in droves, as CMDR's bob and weave through the carnage! We won't get that. Not now at least. Gotta give it time before that comes around.
If we had war we'd get the usual conflict zones, with clouds of NPC's killing eachother over, and over, and over again for 5 days straight until it ended. The high intensity zones would spawn 1 capitol ship for 1 faction. La-dee-da. That's my final word. I'll be unsubbing from the thread now.

Reading the OP, I always took it as an overzealous paper pusher pushing things to the extreme. I'm sure the intention is not to spark a massive war with a galactic front line. The intent is to spark a war IN A SYSTEM between Federation and Empire factions. The OP worded Empire vs. Federation, to get the playerbase involved, in the same way they got involved in the Lugh Community Goals.
.
I have yet to see a Community Goal with the objective to kill other CMDR's. All CG's will be PVE grind "fill a progress bar" missions versus NPC's. So it does not matter if you play in Open (well, that's another topic) or Solo, if your Internet rocks or sucks. People that try to blockade or kill other CMDR's as a counter action to opposing CG's may have a small impact, but the lion's share of the "work" is being done by people with crappy connections playing in their own instances, or in group/solo. So that's a argument that stalls pretty much right away.
.
A war in Liaedin does not mean a galaxy wide war. Heck, FDev can get creative and have the Empire Senate send troops versus Patron's Principles or Liaedin Electronics. The Federation President can send troops versus Crimson Fortune Company. Then you can have other Imperial players (Patreus, Ailsing) also taking sides and likewise matched by the Federation Shadow Government taking sides. All mish mashed so every point of view gets a respective CG:
.
Federation Pro-war in Liaedin gets a CG.
Empire pro-war in Liaedin/Volungu/neighboring systems gets a CG.
Federation "keep the peace" in Liaedin gets a CG.
Empire "keep the peace" in Liaedin gets a CG.
.
You'll have Federation vs. Federation and Empre vs. Empire and Federation vs. Empire all mixed up in a messy player driven "regional" war. That sounds like fun to me! Not some "agreement" to not do anything at all. Bleh.
