So, that was a rude awakening.
I was just exploded immediately after completion of a scan, because my passenger was wanted in the system he asked me to visit. I'm replying to this thread not to complain, but to ensure that anyone at FDev reading this thread knows what I was expecting.
The warning at mission acceptance is fine. It works as is. As does the notification in the transactions tab. Those do not need to be made more clear.
I'm not going to complain about it being a bounty and getting blown up after a manifest scan. That's what happens when you're Wanted. That's fine.
We'll also make sure you have the warning on the status string, although you being wanted will still take precedence.
This is the only thing that's required. The status string tells us when we're carrying illicit cargo, speeding, hostile, or wanted. I'm a decent smuggler. I just expect to be notified when I'm doing it.
The concept that we don't know our passenger is wanted in the system we're currently in until a scan is finished? That's insane. If I'd know my passenger was Wanted in Tau Ceti, I wouldn't have gone there to refuel. Hostile PP NPCs I can evade. Starport guns are inescapable. Honestly, if you really want to crank up the immersion and make this feel even better? When you arrive in a system where your passenger is wanted, have him send you a notification:
Hey, Commander, I thought you should know, the local authority wasn't too happy with me the last time I was here. Thanks.
Then give us a little tab of warning in the bottom right corner. Since the effect of carrying a Wanted passenger is the same as being Wanted, well, that's all the status string needs to tell us. The fix doesn't
need to be any more complicated than that.
Thank you.
