Can I Run Elite

Hey guys, i was wondering if anyone here is using a low end, and can give me 1st hand impressions on lag etc...

My Build- (yeah, it's not the best, try not to laugh too hard)

OS - Windows 7, 64bit
Motherboard - ASRock > G31M - S
CPU - Intel Core2 Quad-Core CPU Q8200
RAM - 2x 1GB - Upgrading to 2x 2GB

GFX - AMD Radeon HD 6450 -
Pixel Shader version - 5.0
Vertex Shader version - 5.0
Dedicated Video RAM - 1.0 GB

UPDATE - (1/09/14) -

Thanks for all the input guys!

It seems Frontier need to update the minimum specs.

Imo, it's the little details that make this game, running everything in low is not practical. While the game may run, it does not play well,

And here's why -

The flight in-game movements, running on a minimum spec desktop feel sluggish, it's not like a stuttering lag, more a really subtle but noticeable delay of control. The overall control of the game has this subtle response to it, and you feel slower, and at a disadvantage because of it.

I fully support the company and game, it will be £50 well spent when i build a new pedigree of gaming pleasure. As it stands, if you have similar specs as mine, i recommend getting an upgrade.

I hope Frontier see this and update the minimum requirements, so it's not just runnable, it's also playable.

One love ;)

Personally i think you are going to struggle. I am on holiday at the moment and can not double check but with 1gb of video ram you might be out of luck. On full whack my machine uses 1.6gb of the video memory available. I am not familiar with the amd cards my laptop had a nvidia 640m 2gb card and it barely ran everything on low and off untill i got near a station and then it would drop from the 25fps down to about 10-15.

If you are going to buy the game anyway I'd recommend just buying it and finding out. My previous graphics card was an AMD 7770 it only had 1GB of video ram but it was happy playing the game with almost all settings turned up full. ED seems really scalable you'll probably be fine and can always change graphics cards later.

A few weeks ago my regular graphics card died, & while it was in the shop being fixed I dusted off an old GTX 275, which seemed to run the game fairly well, 40-45 FPS or so in space, dropping down to 20 FPS in stations & when it got busy. And even at 20fps or so the game seemed quite playble, if obviously not as smooth as it would be at higer fps.

The recommended specs to run E: D are actually fairly modest, and the game seems to run quite well on even "basic" hardware.

Yer, thanks dude!

As long as i can play it xD, cheers mate.

You will need 2GB memory I think, I dont think 2x1GB counts.

It will probably be like a slideshow though.

Sorry, maybe I misunderstand RAM but i have 2.1RAM...
2 sticks at 1gig each, but I'm going to upgrade to 4GB, 2x2... ;)

I'm running on a stock 2.4GHz Q6600 quad-core, 8GB DDR2 ram and initially found the beta was unplayable with the pair of elderly Nvidia 9600GT Extreme cards that were in it -even SLI'd.

Swapped the graphics cards out for a new £100 GTX 750Ti (2GB) and it's quite happy now. CPU usage is pretty high in and around space stations but I'm getting 30fps there and around 40-50fps in open space. (Full 1080p)
Hopefully this will remain the case come release, but it's saved a full upgrade in the meantime :D

Edit: my bad, 9600GT extremes not 9800's.
