Can SLF pilots get a balance pass too?

ONE.... I can afford them

TWO.... we can still be correct they are paid to much

THREE... they have made 8 Billion sitting in the lounge mostly

FOUR... i will still keep them regardless

FIVE... they are paid to much
You know, there's a reason CEOs make the salaries they do. Obviously, you can point out the bad eggs with ty management skills, but in principle, the Chief Executive lives, breathes, s, and sleeps their company. Their dedication, devotion, and expertise commands that they receive the level of compensation that they do - again in principle.

An Elite pilot is supposed to be a legend in this universe - akin to the Red Baron and his fighting aces in WWI. If you, random independent commander not directly under the employ of a major superpower or multi-system corporation with extremely deep coffers (its 3306, I'm talking Trillions) want that Elite pilot. YOU GOTS TO PAY.

If you're going to keep an Elite pilot just sitting in the lounge, and pay them 8 billion to do it - that's just stupid, and that's on you.

Most importantly teach them proper pip and weapon usage. I never allow mine to ever pilot one of my ships again while I'm in the fighter after seeing how he nearly wrecked my Vette (fully engineered). I switched places as fast as I could before the shields went down. Of course there are SCBs, but did he use them ? No.

Elite CMDRs of the Pilots Federation are the supposed legends of the Elite universe. The reason CGs are a thing is because factions are trying to attract the attention and services of these CMDRs, not the Elite pilot working for and renting a ship from minor faction #597.

The fighter pilots are on the payroll of members belonging to the Pilots Federation, the single most powerful organization/faction in the Elite universe.

I've only paid my Elite pilot 250ish million, mainly from missions and vouchers. She only gets paid from the commodity market sell screen if it's green, which it rarely ever is thanks to my Fleet Carrier. ;)

I'd be 100% fine with having to pay them a small stipend every day to keep them on retainer. Maybe however much it cost to hire them(30k-150k). But paying them hundreds of millions of credits for minerals I mined while they weren't even in my ship is a bit much.

I'm 100% fine paying them for COMBAT activites they took part in while on board my ship, but it makes little sense that they get bonds for things they physically cannot help with.

If I could send my fighter away in a little shuttle or an Adder to get me some Limpets, it might be a different matter. But the current implementation basically prohibits actually using the full three crew slots, which seems silly. I would rather enjoy having three different crewmates to pick from depending on ship and mood, but right now, I cannot do that, which is frustrating.

YES!!!!

Why:
  • do we need to pay them more than a salary (if that) if they are not doing work

So they are there when you need them. I am an Elite SLF pilot, you pay me a fraction of what I can earn while I am working so I sit there and wait until I am needed, then someone else comes along and offers me a full paying job guess who's not going to be there when you need him?

Because this is a game, and punishing players for trying to use game mechanics is really stupid. I've seen new players with THREE expert npcs, not realizing they're just sitting there eating 36% of their income. It's incredibly dumb.

I mean - why do I need to continue to pay them if they aren't even on the ship with me?

Really though?

Nope, seriously?

They are on the ship with you all the time, though.
That's why you have to pay them all the time.

+EDIT+

If you really want to be picky, it's kind of vaguely irritating the way they sometimes don't get rewards for the stuff they do.

For example, if you're in the top 10% of a combat CG, what your SLF jockey earns (at least 10% of what you earn) could be enough to get them into the top 25% of the CG and, thus, earn a reward of their own... which would then be split between you.
The game obviously just deducts a percentage of your credits but then doesn't consider them any further.

I just hire an Expert for 150 and fire them before I cash in lol

I used to do that for hazardous missions, until FDev introduced rebuys for your SLF jockey.

Touble is, until they reach Dangerous rank, they're dumber than a bag of hammers and have worse aim than Stormtroopers.
