Im still on the train. Although, relaxing and chilling. :D But I feel we need to be thrown a bone soon, because some of the wolves are getting snappy, we need information. Mr Brookes plz throw us a bone, we need it. Dev update on Thursday maybe, blink blink ;) Or a new picture would be nice. ;)

It's more about the simplicity in the game that makes people frustrating about it.
If you back away from the game to see the larger perspective, Viking84's short list is absolutely solid. There IS not much else to it right now.
But the same is true for 99% of games.

Interaction A - hit thing. Interaction B - use magic on thing. Interaction C - choose between 4 choices of dialogue...

A lots in how it's dressed up - and people's expectations are so ridiculous that nothing could live up to it. Here people want to turn the fortunes and lives of systems with BILLIONS of inhabitants.... People are asking Sean o/of NMS if they can set up a zoo and keep things they discover as pets.... Or requests for an AI system modelling a userbase of millions when most of what they'd do is just fly past you and no one's going to be laughing if they come back to find their AI version of themselves has been ganked four times in a row and lost them everything despite the years they put into learning to program anything non-cartoon/childlike into the system....

People need to be realistic, look at what has been said will be delivered at each stage and see how that is - but it's not what they do, they want ALL of Horizons to turn up as the first 2.0 update and the impossible ultra-game on top. How do they ever expect to be anything but disappointed?

You should be embarrassed for even attempting to use this absolute nonsense of an argument around here. Find one person asking for hand holding or a story? Did you not even read any of the, literally, 1000's of post pointing out the massive flaws in this "game". Shame on you.

You know what, you're right. I am deeply sorry.

I pre-ordered Horizons too. On Black Friday actually to get the paint job. Right before the launch of Horizons, FD did some live streams to explain the expansion. This was where I completely lost it. I got so angry to hear that the solo players won't be getting NPC crews, not even placeholders, and no surface dogfighting was going to be present. And to make matters worse, the game itself was EXACTLY the same as before, not even a hint of improvement to the already shallow game content. All for 50 euros. It was around here I rage quit ED, locked my ReShade config thread and warned my fellow followers on social media about the company and their buisness model.
This time around, I'll never buy anything from FD again unless it's a finished product or season.
Mr Braben has apparently said that ED is his baby. But I can't get rid of the feeling that ED is only there for FD to suck out money from people who's bying FD's marketing .
:(

Edit: But I'm still here... Hoping that someone will finally listen to us that genuinely care about the future of ED.

Well said. I believe many people agree with you, many of which don't even bother to post here anymore.

I'm just waiting for something new now. I'm pretty sure I've spent less time in Horizons since launch than I did in Beta. Now I'm looking elsewhere. The most recent video on NMS has won me over that they are going to deliver on actual gameplay I feel is lacking in ED. I was not a fan of the graphics style but I always believe that gameplay wins over graphics. It will probably take me all of an afternoon to forget about the graphic style and to just become immersed in the gameplay. Even if it doesn't, it will have cost me less than my Horizon's pre-order.
