Well that could be because of the furor surrounding it. but anyway whatever the reason I think it should be appreciated they reduced the requirement and hope that they fix the SCPs soon (it's broken and you can't change my mind unless someone finds even one before they do the 'adjustment')

"Most" is a guess and not everyone who will ever play the game has even bought it yet. It's important they fix the issues for everyone, not just you.
I wasn't at 40 yet. Many won't have even started trying yet. They fixed it following our direct feedback (they even set it to the value we suggested). That wasn't done to prolong the grind. In fact, I didn't even grind it and I feel pretty vindicated for that decision right now. I'm about to hand it in having not "grinded" anything.

I agree that "we" would have found one already if a data port had a chance of 0.01% to drop one.The problem is that even with how the vanishingly small the numbers you placed there would have already resulted in someone finding one in the last 3 weeks given the number of people looking and the intensity with which they were looking.

In a super simplistic calc, 0.01% means that for every 100 hits of the right type of dataport in the right settlement you would find 1. Anecdotally, there have been enough players that there have been in at least 100 hits on every conceivable dataport in almost every conceivable settlement combination by now.
It would be interesting if we got some stats from the devs on the number of people who have found even 1.
But you'd expect to get one every 10000 attempts then, not 100.

Do cmdrs that have already given 40 opinion polls get 8 smear campaigns as compensation?
If only fdev were like yostar... Azur Lane gives compensation to players for even 5 min disruptions to the game, and the players love them for it, I heard it's created one of the most loyal following of a playerbase in any gatcha game, and people actually spend quite a bit because they want to 'reward' yostar.
That would be a great pay back. But I suspect we all know the answer. Guess we now have a two week break from EDO.

To be fair, this would trivialise all data requirements for unlocking. I'd be happy if the drop rate and number required was suitable. OPs now are suitable. Let's see how Smears work when it gets changed.
