Yet the steam support link for ED goes to Frontier Developments...handy...This is a common issue with the Steam version. It has to verify with FDev that you own the game but when Steam doesn't send the verification the launcher will just say you don't own the game. FDev can't really do anything because it's an issue with Steam.
By then the current CG will be over...and I can't make any more progress...bummerIt usually solves itself within a day.
I have the same problem today, AFTER the Steam update.I bought the game when it first came out and its been sitting in my Steam library unused. I have to come to launch it again to use in VR but I cant get back in. Steam lets me install it but the launcher says I have to buy it. I have linked my steam account and try to register the product key but it says its already been used!! The help system is useless, i keep going round in circles. Anyone help?
Yep. I noticed the same thingI noticed that Steam updated right before I tried to get into the game and then I got the same launcher loop that everyone else is getting.

1. Go to the Odyssey store page in Steam. It should say "In library" and have a "Play Now" button.
2. Click the "Play Now" button.
3. If the launcher loads as Horizons, close it and hit the "Play Now" button again.
The game should correctly load and the launcher should be the Odyssey flavour.
Two accounts in our house and one other person on Reddit has had success with this.
(Obvs, this is only potentially going to work for Odyssey players)

That didn't work for me... but it did make me realize I have a serious ED problem (ED = Elite Dangerous)... Cause when looking at the menu's I was almost tempted to hit the 'Play in Demo' mode.... That's pretty bad... 3,452 hours and I still can't escape my daily fix.Odyssey players try this:

If you bought the game from Steam after April 2019 your Frontier account can't verify the game.Not only Steam, Frontier account wont log in either..
