Don't know what to tell you.
My account's been linked for over a year...if not two.
I did switch to the beta steam client - not sure if it matters or not honestly - and it worked on the first shot when I did what the graphic said.
Didn't need to relaunch except the one time.

Not sure if this works without Beta version of Steam.

Hey folks. I had the idea to use the beta steam client (you can opt in in the settings). After the restart and update, I was able to log into the launcher. Though it still took two tries. Good luck.

New Steam update released (official, not beta)... ED loaded properly for me now.

Fixed for me too, standard launcher working after reboot and steam update.
