Can't a miner have a little peace ?

I used to be able to mine in peace. Now it's like a freaking battleground even though i stay away from RES'.

I actually had to upgrade from my Type6 to an ASP so i could fight back as my mate ain't up for protecting me till "Wings" arrive.

But wth is happening, i can't mine a rock without getting "ship scan detected" and "What are you hauling ?"

While it's cool with the occasional combat, this is far too much and hopefully a bug....

I'd file a bug report for this. There's no way a player can get to you if you just drop out of super cruise at an arbitrary location. Therefore, no way an AI should be able to do the same!

This seems to vary too, some places you're hardly if ever bothered (doesn't seem to matter if the rings/belts are pristine) and in others you're constantly getting scanned and constantly fighting.

I've seen the same thing. Regardless of the system traffic, as soon as I go to a mining location, it's nonstop 2 NPCs on my back scanning constantly.

They leave me alone until I mine my first ton of ore but then of course they turn hostile. And as soon as one dies, another one spawns in its place and does the same thing. I've seen this anywhere, from the RES to star belts, in super backwater systems, and in populated systems.

This is exactly what i'm experiencing too atm.. great way to do some bountyhunting ;). Constant supply of wanted criminals...

Yea I've had some MPCs appear, a type 6 that was mining and then an eagle pirate,
I laughed when he flew into an asteroid and exploded on impact, I turned around and carried on mining

Ehm...yes there is.

You target their wake and follow them.

Exactly. Kill one and another one comes. It's terribly annoying when you just wanna chill and scoop some rocks.

And to the guy who said it dosn't happen in pristine is actually exactly where it's happening. Anarchist system.

Friend me and we can group up. I know of a system with a RSE site thats nothing but gold, palladium and platinum and I mine it constantly with hardly an npc bothering me. also I carry weapons so if you want I can also provide some security if the occasional npc pirate bugs us.

I am no miner (yet) but last I checked there is nothing that prevents you from flying to any place in the rings around planets, slowing down to safe speeds and dropping out when you get too close to said rings? the planet doesn't even need a resource extraction node near it to be a place you can mine?

That's exactly what i'm doing and why i don't understand why NPC's must find me in the middle of nowhere.

Hahah that's very kind of you :)

I have my ASP now though so i'm taking care of the buggers by myself, i just really would like to be able to mine in peace atleast untill we have the wings update.

There's a very simple answer to the question you've posed in the title -

NO !

You can come and play nicely with the rest of us. . . . or else !

I think, but not sure, that npc's jump into players near a planet with a resource extraction node, if you do it on a planet without one they shouldn't may be wrong though.

But they're 2k sidewinders, correct OP?

Ehm...yes there is.

while that is true, your wake would lead them to the asteroid belt, 20km or more away from your position, and good luck finding a player anywhere in there if he decided to fly for 2-3 minutes before starting to mine.
