Can't get it working, help please?

Hi all, as I said before I ordered a DK2 for the VR experience in Elite, but I'm having trouble setting it up.

Here's what's happening:

All other Rift demos/experiences etc. are working ok, I have set it up properly. I've watched/read the guides for getting Elite working but I can't get it to display properly...

When I go to change to a secondary monitor, I set it to 75hz, and 1920x1080 resolution, but in the drop down menu it's only giving me an option for "anaglyph" or "side by side".

Neither of these work, I'm probably missing something simple here so wanted to ask you guys if you had any ideas or could help?

EDIT: I've read the stickies in the forum and done what MB said re: extend desktop etc.

Have you updated the SDK ? You should be running 0.4.4. Also if the DK2 is new have you updated the firmware that is included in the SDK install?

Yes I have completed that step, the demo test works, as does the UE4 rollercoaster etc.

Its odd. I have not come across this problem. The main causes of this for me are if a) The wrong SDK version is installed or b) The Rift isn't switched on when you load up the game.

I've used the tool mentioned in the setup thread, and it is displaying now, just with two images separated far apart. I'm confused lol

(running latest Nvidia drivers, I assume they work for everyone else?)

As long as you aren't on 347.09 Nvidia drivers. I think these break the DK2.

In your Nvidia Control Panel is your DK2 rotated to Portrait?

Yep, rotated to Portrait, I'm using the 347.52 drivers. Thanks for trying to help... any other ideas :/

How are you connecting the Rift ? I have major problems with it via HDMI on one card, until I started using the DVI-HDMI adapter instead. That fixed it for me.

I sometimes see the kind of problem you're reporting - when this happens the Oculus control panel doesn't recognise the Rift either. A reboot fixes it.

Is your camera definitely plugged into the power? Try moving the Camera->USB Cable into a USB3 slot? Have you definitely got the cable connected from the camera to the DK2 adapter?

Silly question maybe but have you restarted your PC since setting it all up and installing the SDK?

Is your DK2 plugged into the HDMI? Have you tried using a DVI Converter and using it that way?

I'm not sure what tool you are referring to that helped you get it working but it sounds to me like Elite still isn't detecting your DK2 is connected as a device. Unless you see Oculus (Speakers) and Oculus (Headphones) as an option in the 3D section then its not finding your DK2.

I have also had the double vision thing with lots of cours but as restart always fixes it

Have to tried to run elite using the DK2 as your primary monitor?

The Rift has to be set to extended mode (through the oculus utility) and set as your primary monitor (through your desktop manager). Then with the rift on and in extended (blue light on the rift) start ED, and go into the graphic settings. There should be a dropdown for the 3d aspects of the game. You need to set the game to Oculus (headphones or speaker) in the 3d settings.

Hi all, the Rift is all set up ok, all the correct SDK installed, firmware is updated etc. Like I say all the other tech demos and games from Oculus work.

I've tried restarting, no joy.

If I try it your way Pyro Steel I get what looks like a zoomed in doubled image, one image for each eye. Trying not to get frustrated here lol

The only option I have within the "3D" drop down menu is "ANAGLYPH" or "SIDE BY SIDE"

It's frustrating because I bought the rift to play Elite and I know it's probably something really simple aaargh

In your double image view select graphics monitor seconday or is primary cannot remember all should be ok then

Nope, no deal. I just can't enable the rift under the 3D options

What I thought was a double image is just a really zoomed in 2D image.

I'm gutted

Whatever I do, there is no option to enable the Rift under the 3D options, only side by side or anaglyph.... any other ideas anyone?

Ok, tried that, no deal still :_(

In the oculus rift demo with the table in front of you with the lamp and house of cards etc. should I be able to lean in and roll my head etc. as that doesn;t happen. Wondering if that's got anything to do with it

and yes you should have tracking when you move forward and back
goto to your oculus config and make sure your camera is being detected and that everything is plugged in

Hi, yes I have .4.4 installed. Ignore me re: tracking, I underestimated how far you can move your head! Tracking works fine.

Everything is plugged in as per the instruction manual.

It says power is optional, I take it unless you want to power something USB you don;t need that separate power source. I'll take a look at the vid thanks for any help... not going to give up!

Ok yes everything in that video I've already done. I do not get the option to change to Oculus rift in the 3D settings.

I'm getting very sad now, really was looking forward to jumping in to the Elite world tonight in glorious VR but it's getting increasingly frustrating

You still don't get the oculus rift option in the 3d dropdown even when the oculus is set to extended? Thats the only way i can get elite to give me the option is by starting the game with the rift set to extended.
