Can't pay bounty at Interstellar Factor

While fighting some wanted pilots in Shinrarta Dezhra, I managed to attack a system defense force craft and got a 200CR bounty on me.

I tried to pay the bounty at Jameson Memorial but since it has me as anonymous when I entry, I can't pay it. I've been to 4 Interstellar Factor agents and none of them have this bounty for me to pay off.

What am I supposed to do to get rid of it? I've been playing Elite Dangerous for a long time and never had this much trouble getting rid of a bounty.

You're not alone. IF are yet another thing that are buggy and broken in odyssey. Try relogging, if that doesn't work, try closing the game including the launcher. If that doesn't work, launch horizons, finally, file a complaint. Good luck!

Will do. Thanks for the advice. I'll reply again with the results...

As a side note, I was simplifying the original post but that system defense force ship attacked me when I wasn't wanted. When I fired on it that's when I got the bounty. I think something is wrong with the local forces attacking unprovoked.

The whole C&P system, while never great, seems completely bonkers now. It seems entirely too easy to commit crimes incidentally and the authorities always seem to know immediately and airways respond with maximum force and zero leeway is given.

That is known Issue. Horizon still works. So, while in interstellar system, Log in to Horizon and pay off your bounties. That is what I do.

There should be issue report, find one with most reproductions and add to it, dont create new one because they will mark it as duplicate and discard it.

Yup... known bug. So:
  • you can't pay off a bounty at an IF in a system where the faction you are wanted with is present. You have to go elsewhere. That's a bug.
  • you can't pay off interstellar bounties anywhere. This is also a bug.

Workaround is to log in to Horizons and pay it off there. Note, you'll spawn wherever your active ship is.

I'v sussed not to try to pay off the bounty at an IF in the same System.
I had a bounty on me, after picking on the nearest pilot & blowing his Ship for dropping Commando's on me at a POI....:oops: it wasn't him.

Went to nearest IF, no joy!
Took me a while to realise....for the first time ever, my Notoriety had moved from 0 to 1:eek:
Had to read up about it then wait for 2 hours, to clear my bounty.

But good to know what needs to be done when this 'bug' happens. Since Odyssey dropped I find I'm continually racking up fines & bounties like never before.......for me:whistle:

With Notoriety you can't pay off bounties, you have to wait. Log in to Horizon won't help.

I can not pay of a bounty either. No notority. Not in the same system. Bounty giving faction not present in Intersteallar system. Logging into Horizons did not help.

Occasionally I've had to sneak into the port of the faction issuing the bounty using silent running to avoid getting scanned and blown up, docking as Anonymous and turning myself in. This clears the bounty, but you get transferred to a detention center with your ship intact.

Sorry to necro but this is still an issue.

I was able to pay off a quest-failed fine at a system-local IF after a relog. A few hours later I incurred another fine in the same system but had to go to horizons to pay it off at the same IF station.

Frustrating.

Yeah, paying off fines/bounties is just proper screwed in Odyssey. I just relog to Horizons each time I have to do it. Issues I've found are:
  • Can't pay fines when you have notoriety (Not bounties, just fines, which can be done in Horzions)
  • Can't pay off bounties at an IF when you don't have notoriety, if the faction is present
  • Can't pay off interstellar bounties at an IF at all without notoriety
  • Other general inconsistencies (sometimes can't pay fines in irregular circumstances)

Whole thing is plain messed up.

Well one of them is wrong ... I bet it will stay that way until the merge the EDH / EDO UIs - then there will be enough outrage to get it fixed.
