Can't summon the Thargoid at the Barnacle? Here's how

Psssst, this is how I did it, you should do the same: Open a bottle of wine (thargoids love wine.....), drink the bottle while randomly jumping in econo mode through the system. The thargoids will get interested. Put on a second pair of socks (to stay quiet). Open a second bottle of wine (did I mention thargoids love wine???). Shave off your left eyebrow...... Drink the rest of the wine while sitting in your SRV at the barnacle site. I don't exactly remember the rest very well, but pretty sure I saw a thargoid after the last glass......
For sure this works! Oh, and send me a crisp $20 bill for the advice (so I can buy more wine.....). ;)

I'd make sure 'A' that you are at the correct barnies, 'B' you are actually moving out of the settlement zone, and 'C' you reset the instance if it isn't spawning.

Ok, is Obsidian Ant OI-T C3-7 A 6 -42.77 / -21.7 still a ok location for event to trigger?
-what do you mean by "moving out" should I start driving SRV away from the barnacle?

The Barnacle where the first encounter happened. I'm not at my PC right now so can't check. You basically want to toggle between in and out of the settlement zone. You can see the distance marker for the end of the SZ by going down to the lower menu. LMK if it is working.

I've tried this for like 20 times in solo. Barnacle at system : Pleiades Sector OI-T C3-7 A 6 (-42.77,21.7)

No go. Do you have to first ever touch a meta alloy, UA or UP in the past year?

I posted this in Cannon but as usual it is getting buried.
-Engage SRV and drive close to Barnacles
-Dismiss ship if it hasn't been dismissed yet.
-Wait for ship to leave.
-Open bottom menu
-The recall ship should be red (if you are in the Barnacle field)
-Move away from Barnacle until recall button is no longer red.
-Turn around and move back towards the Barnacle and into the settlement zone. Position yourself next to the main Barnacle.
-Count to 10
-Move back out of settlement zone
Rinse and repeat.

It WILL work given enough attempts. I spawned 16 events with a total settlement zone event spawn rate of about 10%. Entering the settlement zone is the primary trigger. Confirmed on Solo, private, and open. Also confirmed with intact and destroyed barnacle spires. It won't take you very long to spawn the event.

Also, for the love of God, don't disturb the Thargoids.

Lol

I can see what u did there.

Obvious that is a nothing else than troll post.

I bet OP is rollin on floor from laugh each time someone try this (and fail) to later post about failure.

Great gameplay FD - I`m alt tabbing the game and looking at forums to see how I can trigger/cheat the important alien cutscene... this is why I cant write a review for the game - one day I love it, one day I hate it. And no, I cant move to other game coz there is no other game like Elite and there wont be for at least few years. Jeez FD you made me squish my stress relief toy due to broken RNG too much lately...

I think my method works best. Go to the barnicles in open. Sit on the ground next to them while you share jokes with the other commanders. Before long SDC come along and they start shooting everyone. Instead of running away, kill them all, then, when you settle back down on the ground on your own by the barnicles, the alien comes. Make sure that you're on the ground when it comes otherwise you will crash to the ground when it disables your ship, so as soon as you kill the last SDC (normally from 4 to 8 of them), land immediately.

I can vouch that this method works. I was one of the players Void showed this method to yesterday. We got at least 4 sightings using it. The more people there are, the better, as each new player with an SRV is another chance to trigger it.

Hah good plan - now serious question - if you wait for the cutscene in open does it mean all ppl in instance are increasing the chance of the scene to trigger? Cant believe I`m asking this... is waiting for cutscene in open with other commanders will trick/cheat RNG mechanics to spawn the cutscene more often?

According to this method, yeah. But it doesn't explain the long hours people have waited with many CMDRs popping in and out & resetting and not seeing anything.

RNG is still at play. We also observed that once it's happened in a given instance, the odds of it happening again in that same instance are VERY slim. I don't think we ever got it to happen twice without re-instancing. People trying over and over and getting nothing in Open might unknowingly be in an instance where it's already been triggered.

I've heard tales of the ship coming back to revisit an instance, but I'm 99% certain that's a glitch, not an intended mechanic that can be relied upon.

Also, the SRV is necessary. I've often observed commanders sitting in their ships doing nothing and just expecting the aliens to show up. That doesn't work unless there are other players in SRVs doing the work for them.

Ok sitting in open with bunch of ppl goofing off worked best for me - triggered the alien ship within 30 minutes or so. Well... off to next adventure!

Yep.. but I wish you hadn't stopped me humping that barnacle. I would have been right at ground zero.

It would probably sucked you in in to the alien ship... you know they do certain experiments on ppl on those alien ships.... [where is it][where is it][alien]

You put your left leg in
Your left leg out
In
Out
Shake it all about
You do the Hokey Kokey
Then you turn around
And that's what temps the Thargoid's out
Ohhhhhh the Hokey Kokey Kokey
Ooooohh the Hok ....... !

:p

Do the ice cream freeze strike your pose
Then you do the milkshake
Shake it, shake it down low
Do the snow cone slide left to right
Put your hands in the air
And the Thargoids are there!!!

Questions:

1. Are you 100% sure the SRV is necessary? If you fly back and forth with your ship at low altitude, in and out of the zone, will it never trigger?
2. Can you get this to work for any other barnacle sites? On the same planet or a different one?
