***Carrier Signal Compromised***

Nobody cares about some signals.

Everyone by now is so accustomed to the simple fact that there's never anything new or unknown at any "unknown signal" or "place of interest" locations that nobody is bothered to look for anything interesting. The gameplay is exceedingly repetitive, monotonous and unoriginal.

And also there's the fact that any news item or community goal does not directly impact game mechanic, gameplay or experience of the player. So why should we bother? Plus it's extremely easy to miss those. I, for one, never know about current community goals, I don't even know where to look for this information in the game.

well the launcher would be the tool to tell you. Also, doesn't galnet ingame tell it? but not sure, haven't checked galnet recently.

Checks local news...

Nope, but the locals seem to keep a good archive. I can read about some civil war that broke out here on 01 Jun 3301.
Other than that, nothing apparently ever happened in the System I'm in right now.

I guess that's why I never read it, so I'll leave it to others to "De-Compromise" some Carrier Signals.
Anyway, never saw an actual Carrier in the Galaxy (despite many Bulletin Missions claiming to originate from a Carrier Signal), so that's a mystery all by itself ;)

Uh, pretty sure they mean actual "carrier signals". So you wouldn't see them, it just means that whatever was supposed to send news is broken in one way or another. I blame infrastructure budget cuts.

For a change, I find myself ahead of the curve...

Tell us what you know.

Willing to pay in rep for a gif of that scene.

If you could power your FSD with complaining, you could get to Sag A in one jump from this post.

Well, that's in no way mysterious is it? Could it all be a trap though or will it be something nice...Who knows!? Well, Zac and some other folk at Frontier probably know but other than that...Who knows!?

Could just be some space-cats walking across somebody's comm keyboard.

Hm, a Signal that ends up in the local news then. Weird.
Either way, someone will sure stumble over one earlier or later...

Maybe a Federation or Empire thing then I guess. Not aware of Alliance or Independents having any Carrier presence nor ownership.

PS.
If it's a "Carrier Distress Call", let's just hope it's not asking for Fuel :D

Fuel Rat : Captain, how much do you need?
Carrier : about 1500 tons
Fuel Rat : 0.o

It's not about ship carriers, it's not a ship at all, it's a signal.

It's an error message. Your ship is telling you it was supposed to receive something, but lost the connection for some reason, on a really low (as in, bare metal) level. It's unlikely any actual carriers are involved.

Gosh, I need a rest.

Edit: if your home router has logs, it's quite likely they mention carrier signals, too. Do you think that your internet provider lives on an aircraft carrier? Don't answer if you actually live on an aircraft carrier.
Edit 2: I probably sound grumpier in this post than I want to. I blame my headache. I'm just trying to explain why such a thing could possibly show up in someone's "news feed" (though in real life that would look totally different, like "message unreadable, look here for more details", or it would just be casually dumped without a mention beyond some logs somewhere, but hey, flavor text). And probably failing at it. Explaining, that is.

The signal is pulsating as if it were a countdown. Call your lawyer.

A countdown... wait, a countdown to what David?
David Levinson said:
It's like in chess: First, you strategically position your pieces and when the timing is right you strike. They're using this signal to syncronize their efforts and in 5 hours the countdown will be over.

And then what?
David Levinson said:
Checkmate.

Oh, my God. I gotta call my brother, my housekeeper, my lawyer. Nah, forget my lawyer.
