Which system is that please? I am at a Human Tech Broker in Carnsan system and it's not available there.
All Techbroker on Rescue Ships should have them:

What limpet do I use to get the caustic tissue sample?

Nope.
A 7D repair limpet will do a better job than an ULC since the ULC are providing one size lower limpet services.

That means a size 7 ULC will provide the size 5 equivalent limpet controller services (size 5A/5C prospectors, 5A/5C collectors, 5A/5C repair, etc)
Well, TIL. I was under the impression that they had the same characteristics of the same size + grade, but I guess it's just grade. Still, it means you only need one slot to have the equivelent of a 5A repair, 5A decon, 5A research and 5A collector instead of spending 4 individual slots, and a size 5 HRP is a bit wasted in a size 7 slot, so still seems like a worthwhile trade-off to me, just not quite as beneficial as I had thought.

Legitimate question here, so please don't become caustic (see what I did there?)
I have collected thargoid generator skins for my friends. They need to collect their own shards and parts otherwise. One has done no engineering nor has she unlocked the guardian hull reinforcements. The later I have on my maelstrom sub and it works well.
I have advised to unlocked those reinforcements but came to ask if anyone has had luck collecting caustic shards without having to use reinforcements.

We've tried keeping decon limpets on her ship as she dives to 5k to collect shards. That stuff eats light armor fast. Faster than the limpet can repair.

An Anaconda full of HRP will reach about 6.2k hull (only 5.4k with 64 cargo and 7c ULC) - should be able to resist some, but boosting under 300 means she will have a hard time getting out fast of the acid bath
And try to use 7d repair limpets to repair her hull instead of trying to use decon limpets

Maybe you should set her on the path of engineering - Unlocking Felicity will give her G3 drives, G1 PP (low emission + thermal spread will help in the Maelstrom) plus G5 FSD and G3 Sensors and DSS

Yea, she's leaning toward getting the HRPs. That will help. She'd be good to go but was missing a module blueprint.

I got the tissue samples for my alt account with my main account, but had to get the materials with the account itseld and it didn't have a cold Maelstrom exploration ship. Just used the AX Cutter. Size 5 decon and repair controller, 3B collector and 80 limpets, of which I used about half. Heh, I didn't even know that those caustic generators blow up when a hot ship is around. There is caustic everywhere, but it isn't too hard to avoid the strong effect.

I have not even got mine yet cannot see it at Orunmilla and i am
  • Top 25% will receive 1 Caustic Sink Launcher
As @Northpin says, it's treated like a heat sink.
Generally though, if I have any modules I want to locate, I bypass the (bad) in-game interface and just ask Inara where my modules are. Makes it easy to see the modules in storage (and where they are, and what engineering is applied) but also the ones that are fitted to ships.

Follow up to this in case it helps others.

Person involved did not have access to the guardian HRPs. She loaded up on regular hummie hull reinforcements. This helped but was not idea. At least she didn't blow up immediately. As such she could collect 6 of the items herself with one of us shepherding her with continuous decon limpets.

In the end, however, we ended up doing this a bit of "the hard way". I went in with my storm rider (based on the storm breaker build of another thread) and collected 6 at a time but left the cargo hatch closed. I then went out to the "safe" area and those who needed them were able to scoop them up.

I had collected generator skins for everyone before hand so those were sitting in the carrier waiting for the final step for everyone.
