[CCN] The Christmas Carriers Convoy

... but you could maybe bring it forwards a day and coincide the launch of this with the reunion of DW. That'd be awesome, the thing that started the exploration trips coming full circle and a new one launching the same day.
And the 2nd anniversary of reaching Sagittarius A*. :)

This seems interesting! an excuse to finally go back to where I belong! despite being part of the Militia, I'll join the convoy as a carrier, since I haven't flown big bulky ships in a while!

FGES Hippocampus standing by...

@Administration - Please change registration from ship type: Orca to Ship type: Python (Haulage config)

Done :)

Yay! The more the... heavier?

First timer, but don't want to miss the opportunity!:p

Welcome to the world of mass exploration events!

Quick question: is it required for Carriers to be completely unarmed? I'm OK if it is but it affects which ship I would bring as I like to keep my Anaconda ready for combat, no matter where I go in it.
.
My play time for late November/December is a bit up in the air right now: I might be able to play almost every day or not at all until the Christmas holidays. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I'll have a clearer picture of what I can commit to. I would certainly like to go out there again (preferably with passengers) - and also pay a visit to the Hyponia borders.

@Administration

Sorry for the waffling, but request the following replacing my original application:

Ship Name: FGES Mantis
Ship Class: Vulture

Role: Militia/Scout Escort

Awesome! Only, why do you guys always organize these cool events during periods of time when I won't be able to participate:( :( :(

No matter, best of luck in this great endeavor! o7

If you want a couple weapons, it's ok, but if you're fully armed, you fall out of the Carriers RP ;)

Hehe, will do.

That's why we stretched it to Jan. 2nd, but if it proves to tight, we'll stretch it a bit more. I'm fully aware that most people can't play during Christmas time, but there's so much stuff planned that it's hard to find a timeframe! n_n'

I'm in !
I'll bring back the Anaconda to Toluku
and start with my Python

Regards
Shinji

Glad to have you! :)

Any cargo is good. Would be nice to have passenger missions, though.

I have sent an email to Zac, just got to wait for a reply.

Would defensive weapons be ok for the carriers.

I am thinking of point defence and mines.

In that case, I guess add me in and hopefully I will be able to keep up with the event!

Thanks for answering - I'll probably bring my Python then, if I can make it. I have a couple of laser turrets with shield-healing special effects (regen sequence and concordant sequence) that would be OK for a Carrier, I think. By the time the expedition leaves, we should have a clearer idea of what the risks are on the journey, anyway.

I'd be interested, but how do you coordinate something like this, how do you get all the players to cooperate online?

The expedition will have set waypoints along the route, starting in the bubble, and stretching all the way to Colonia. There will be 4 designated basecamps along the route. The basecamps act as regrouping points.. a date and time is set for the fleet to regroup at these locations, before the next leg of the journey gets underway. Heavy freighters and Beluga Liners will be escorted by the Colonial Marines and Militia so the basecamp meetups will be used to organize wings and flotillas for these pilots between each waypoint.

Its impossible to move the fleet as one entity due to the different timezones, and the different amount of gametime players can commit, so its up to individuals to try to make it to the rendezvous points by the days and times stated. Players will be encouraged to travel around 5,500 LYs per week to hit the basecamps on time and if they want to enjoy the social aspect of the trip with others.

This is how we did it on Distant Worlds and managed to get over 500 of the initial 1,300 ships that set out across the galaxy to Beagle Point. That expedition took 3 months and covered 82,000 LYs, so this should be a breeze compared to that.

For communication and coordination we'll use the CCN #distant-truckers channel on discord.

CMDR Halcyone signing up :)

His brand-new Anaconda, "Voids Arrow" has completed its first trials and awaits final outfitting. Initial estimates hint at 200+ tons of cargo, with a small fighter as its only means of defence. Appointments are being made with some Engineers to complete needed modifications.

Signed up as Carrier with my than brand new Belluga.
It will carry Beam-turrets and a fighterbay. But is IS a Passanger-Carrier.

Will you set up an Expedition on EDSM.NET to Join?

Perhaps a silly question, but what is the average jump range we are expecting for this expedition? Between fully loaded haulers and combat capable craft, I'm not expecting the average jump range to be much higher than the mid-20s. I'm fiddling around with my Battle-Conda right now, and my preliminary set-ups are getting me just under 25 Ly.
