Without a doubt, the best memory I have in Elite Dangerous is the Distant Worlds 2 launch. I participated in the EU and NA server launch and it was the most amazing experience I've ever had in gaming. I had my Vive VR setup, my HOTAS, and I was tuned into the official Distant Worlds 2 radio station. I felt like I was in space, with all these other commanders that had the same aspirations and goals. At each waypoint, you'd find dozens of commanders, driving SRV's, doing flyby's, and posing for pictures. The chat was overflowing with positivity and shared experiences. It was a community experience I will never forget and always love.
In a game where you're normally left to your own devices - scanning remote systems; traversing dead, ancient ruins; trucking hundreds of tons of goods; fighting nameless NPC's - seeing even ONE other commander can be a thrill. The liveliness of DW2 was exhilarating, to say the absolute least. It brought into perspective just how many commanders are really out there, and how many really have your back.
It's been an absolute privilege to fly with you all. Godspeed, commanders o7
