c'est la vie...

play solo
make some money.
go cg on open
get ganked.
lose money.
play solo....
c'est la vie lol

I did notice the last time though that I got 365,000 credits reduction in my ship rebuy for notoriety... wouldn't it be something if somebody that notorious got so much attention from the law that they just get pushed out into the anarchy systems... wouldn't that make their game so much more fun?

It's only been four years! That's far too soon to expect the game to actually orchestrate and offer PvP gameplay with purpose and depth, while sensibly penalising mindless/pointless ganking in a sensible fashion.

Yeah, I'd say I've lost probably 500 million + this year to CG related deaths. Dog fighting the scum in the game keeps me active, however it's usually silly odds, like 4vs1 or worse, with fighters deployed too. Ahoo!

In saying that, some fighting in Elite has become mostly joyless compared to pre-engineers as all the silly tools have made quality commanders less capable of actually fighting against silly odds, whereas before, if you were a solid pilot, you really could stand alone and come out victorious. Now it's all target lock breaking, scramble beam spamming and fsd choking no escape chaos. I guess it depends who you are up against as you can still pull of some miracles, sometimes. But now a small pulse laser can light up a stealth ship permanently... For real? Emissive wonders.

I wouldn't mind so much if FD would actually put more meaningful, worthwhile and rewarding missions in the game to help recuperate your losses. But nope, the game rewards as little as it can these days, it seems. Lol.

No, there are no anarchist engineers.

I'm still surprised 4 years after launch solo commanders go alone to community goals.

So obvious lol... if you play OPEN you need to stay away from populated areas.

If one is to stay away from populated areas when in open, then why even bother with open?

Not picking, just curious.

I do this, sort of. I just play the game. I used to play in Solo (the first few weeks) then got curious about who all these other players were on the system traffic reports so I started playing in Open & haven't really looked back.

Open isn't just PvP mode, it's everything mode. Or it used to be anyway, still is for me. I can see where my (mostly explorer) friends are on the galmap, I meet random strangers, 99% are friendly or benign, every so often some drama happens ;)

ETA I should add that while I don't go looking for trouble I don't particularly avoid specific systems or hotspots either, I just play my own game.

Solution: Always play open, so you can make money and get ganked at the same time.
It also makes you feel superior when hearing about the risk-averse who hide in solo-pg.

Got ganked in open at a cg, undoubtedly a shame.
Don't let the minority of the player base put you off open.

Just out of interest what was the circumstances of your untimely demise:- ship build, opposition, etc.
