CG predictions...

Well, we'll probably have to prepare ourselves for the fact that CGs have become a tool for FDev to rein in a power that has grown too large. On the other hand, the CG could be interesting this time, because it won't be one giant versus one dwarf, but entire blocs. The goal seems to be to unite the independents behind LYR and the FEDs, thus creating more tension. Only the Alliance can choose where it wants to feel a sense of belonging.

Eek, just seen this, was expecting CG this afternoon at 2 or 3pm, but I am not pledged to any PP and I don't have a 3 way dice/coin toss.
Oh, normal 6 sided dice will have to do - 1-2 for 1st CG, 3-4 for 2nd CG, 5-6 for 3rd CG. Here goes....

Wait ...... lets read each one......

I don't think the other independent Powers will support LYR simply for being independent as well.

Something else that’s of interest in this CG -
Note that no fire zones will not be enforced at these locations, although firing directly at stations will still result in a robust response.
Now I haven’t gotten around but sounds like from the CG descriptions they’re experimenting with station fighting like during the Thargoid war except with human combatants involved, if I’m reading this correctly?

Not that I’ve yet seen whether there are CZs placed directly at ports or those inserted megaships.

I am not going to roll a dice, decided that it will be easier to get into and stay in the 75% 3rd loser CG, as I will need less for 75% than the winner and 2nd place.
I will see later and look for the 3rd place as it rarely changes after the first few hours (I do realize this is the 1st 3 way CG!).

Impressively, it's pretty close to a 3-way tie so far, and the side with a narrow lead is also the one with the lowest Inara-estimated 75% threshold...

Doesn't a high contributor number usually keep the 75% threshold low? Although this early and with such low numbers, the amount of "casual" participants might still be negligible.

The 75% threshold is basically always low - generally well under an hour's effort for a vaguely optimised approach.

Last CG, a single high ground CZ would have comfortably reached 75% for either side and two of them was an easy 50%.
Typical ranges for trade CGs are usually in the 2-3kT range which is less than an hour of hauling with a T-9/Cutter. (Once the Panther comes in those numbers will presumably go up a bit, of course)
The last bounty hunting CG I did I ended up very comfortably in top 75% from a single HazRES-until-my-ammo-runs-out run. (And I use frag cannons, so my ammo runs out fast!)

This is a new CG type so what the thresholds will be is hard to predict, but "about an hour's effort" seems likely to still hold.

Just my prediction here but I fully expect Duval to comfortably come out on top.
Wouldn’t surprise me either, but as things go the matchup could’ve been significantly more lopsided. Also don’t think anybody expected Archer to get involved…

… on that note, one-off or should we maybe expect other powers to get involved in more future CGs? Seeing how Archer’s technically had his turn with the Patty already but here he is again, stirring up more trouble. (And somehow pretending his surveillance state-esque governance and corporate slavery state are any better than the Empire would be under Aisling, whether the removal of slavery is simply a popularity gesture or genuine)

I think FDEV are using the CGs to try and get people more involved with power play since I think the 2.0 release seems to have been more lackluster than they hoped.
Maybe it’s just me but the it seems really difficult to find specific power play information in the map menus to complete some of the tasks. It’s hard to even know if something is a bug or working (badly) as intended. They really need a very thorough guide that covers how to find everything PP related.

I don't care about any of these powers.
Also I thought CGs rotated between combat and trading?
There's no rotation of CG types. It's just whatever the current plotline demands... maybe that's a month straight of combat... maybe it's a month of exploration... maybe a month of trade.
